Nicky Shorey in Garth Crooks' team of the season

by Slightly Hungover » 15 May 2007 08:25

Very complimentary he is too:

NICKY SHOREY (Reading)

Nicky has perhaps been the outstanding find in the Premiership this season. He has been truly magnificent.

He has been almost ever-present and his standard of football has earned his selection in the England B international later this month.

There is Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge and I think you have to now add Nicky Shorey to that list. He is very capable of stepping into the breach if needed by England.

I think that praise is fully deserved, everyone keeps talking about Ivar as our player of the season, but I think Shorey's up there too.

This is not an honour per se, but it is an indicator of how good he actually is, let's hope McLaren reads Garth's column.

Typical BBC poor journalism.

He wasn't found this season and he wasn't 'found' in the premiership.

We found him a long time ago. Mighty glad we did.

Shorey for England!!!!!

When talked earlier in the season i would never put him in the England pecking order...but after his recent displays....particulary on Sunday he can very much count himself in the England managers future plans.

As he only watches us on MOTD he will have noted the cross-field pass that led to their 2nd goal

Praise indeed.

Finally getting the recognition he so rightly deserves.

Well done Shozza, and good luck in the England B.

The real "Special One"

http://reading.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=942&p=2&stid=8445883

As a left-sided player who is a true all-rounder - he can defend, get forward and possesses a demon shot - surely an England call-up is not far away.
