Errrm.....

Didn't we go the scottish route once before and it cost about 5m, a 5 year setback and thousands of pairs of pants!

Cor he thinks very highly of himself. Personally I have never heard of him!

Anyway reagrding Second Season Syndrome, neither Wigan or West Ham went down so next year and the year after this will be forgotton about. More to the point with Watford & Sheff Utd being relegated it just shows how difficult it is to survive in this league first time round! Beware Sunderland, Brum & Derby/West Brom, Reading will be fine!!

I can understand why he would move to Celtic over Reading, but to say that Reading will get relegated is just utter bollocks.

He sounds like a c*nt, but then again I'd expect that from someone without the bottle to trade a Mickey Mouse league for some proper competition in the Premiership. If he only sees himself as capable of playing four competitive league games a season then I'm glad we didn't get him.

He said might Spacey - and from a players point of view it's a perfectly acceptable thing to say. Some people are so oversensitive about any perceived slight.

We've had one season here, we're not established in anyway. We may finish 8th next year, we may finish 18th.

With Celtic he'll know he'll finish 2nd at worst and have CL football evey season.

being scottish its perfectly understandable he'd want to play for Celtic, as for the relegation battle, other than being wrong he's just using it as an excuse to justify his own decision.

To claim he'll test himself against ManU, Barca, Real Madrid... well thats the luck of the draw and he may play against one or two of those teams over the life of his contract. Whilst playing 150+ games against the likes of Falkirk, Motherwell, St Mirren & Gretna. I know what I prefer.

From his point of view he has taken the easy option. He is playing for the best team in a sub standerd league. I think it's a let off how many decent jocks are there in the Premier league?

With all the talk going around about 'second-season syndrome', it's good to see threads like this demonstrating that 'poor li'l Reading syndrome' is still alive and well.

So what if someone most of us have never heard of thinks we might struggle next year? If that's what he thinks he obviously wouldn't have fit in with the team anyway. No need to get worked up about it.

That's fine Scot, but Celtic would struggle to play those teams if they were in a proper league.

Oh how we will love to prove you wrong, perhaps the clubs will meet in a European tie in a few seasons.

:D

I really doubt the bloke gives a flying one what we do to be honest.

He had a simple choice, Celtic or Reading and chose to give his reasons behind it. The choice was a no brainer really, I'd have chosen Celtic as well and I'm a Reading fan.

I honestly do not see what all the fuss is about.

That surely depends on your situation. He's a Scot and probably would have preferred to stay in Scotland. I wouldn't have chosen Celtic, personally, but I can understand why he would chose Celtic as he isn't from Reading or even from the south of England.

There's an old showbusiness saying : "Don't be rude to people on the way up, you may meet them again on the way down".

I think his choice of words was daft since it's never a good idea to put down teams you know nothing about. I think Steve Coppell was referring to Brown in the LMA question and answer referred to in the OS on his manager of the month award - why p*ss someone off like SC? Just say that Celtic guarantee European football and leave it at that.

I wouldn't have, playing for Reading should be every Reading supporter's dream, good money and you get to go to the likes of Old Trafford, Anfield and the Emirates Stadium, whereas Scott will have to rely on the draw on the champions league. Plus, I wouldn't be keen on living in Glasgow, terrible weather and it is extremely rough in parts.

And that's your choice. A move to Celtic would all but guarantee winning many trophies over your career and European football at the highest level every season. Add to that the financial rewards and even as a Reading fan, as a professional footballer it would be a foolish move to make.

Footballers want to win things, playing for Celtic you definitely will, playing for Reading you might.

Trophies in a one-sided league though, thre's no competitiveness. Celtic will never be good enough to win the Champions League, but then I suppose, we haven't got much chance of that either.
