Kevin Dillon at League 2 Play Off Final

by size 12 » 26 May 2007 22:27

Spotted him outside the stadium this afternoon as we were leaving. Looked quite jovial

Could he have been scouting? Rovers had a winger called Igoe who looked alright...

BTW, awesome stadium, if you get the chance, go. It's been worth the wait

No harm on keeping an eye on the lower leagues. Maybe he went as a guest of Gary Peters? When did he play for us?

That Bristol Rovers striker, Walker, looks very handy!

We might aswell start planning for the championship now if we are scouting any of the names mentioned so far.

No one said we were after them or thought they'd be of use to us, let alone a Premiership club!

Walker has been superb all season and would suit any Championship club. There aren't many players in League 1 or 2 that can make the successful step up to the Premiership, but if our scouts decided otherwise, who are you/we to judge?

Quite. And as for lower league trash like Shorey, Kitson and Doyle.... we are soon to drop to Conference or less....

Doyle ? We didn't sign him from the lower reaches of the Football League ! Sonks, Murty, Lita, Little, Hunt might all be worth including though...

Dillon was probably just there on a day out

he was there with his mate who supports Shewsbury. He pretty emphatically denied he was there doing any scouting. He laughed at the suggestion.

Maybe scouting isn't his role. He admitted he didn't know anything about Cisse, other than that he was athletic and can play in midfield or defense, so it doesn't seem likely we signed him on his recommendation.

Oh, and he thought the exodus of fans after the Watford game, rather than staying to applaud the players for a great season was very disappointing.

by the way, if anyone is going to Wembley, I can highly recommend avoiding Wembley Park and catching a train from Marylebone (two stops on the tube from Paddington) and catching the train to Wembley Central. It takes less than 10 minutes, is far less busy, and stops nearer than Wembley Park.

I saw him in Broad Street on his return.

By the look of him any scouting would not be very fresh in the memory this morning...

He was in good spirits though and top bloke.

I can recommend driving to High Wycombe and catching a train to Wembely Stadium station - 30 minutes

Doyle came from ireland.

Shorey and kitson have been part of the team for years and have settled in and worked their way up. You are asking a league two player to make the step upto the premierleague without testing himself in the championship, recipe for disaster. Caleb folan and cotterill were from league one and have hardly set the world alight at wigan have they? very much considered hot property's and where did wigan nearly end up with him them in the side.

Presumably if Dillon was spotted in Waitrose there would be some who would assume he was looking for the next Dave Kitson...

Personally I think the club's scouting has been pretty spot on and if they thought they could take a lower league player and fit him in the squad I'd back them.

Yes, I watched it on TV. It certainly was the ex-Royal Sammy Igoe and he scored the third goal

That's funny, we had a winger called Igoe as well a few years back. He was crap though.

The Irish league is comparable to lower leagues here.
