Forbury Lion I remember one Jamie Cureton long range effort in the closing minutes of a game, possibly against Sheff Wednesday.... anyway, the away fans described it as hit and hope but that shows what they know

IIRC Mr Angry put them right on it.

Brighton, which they won 2-1, or Burnley which we won 3-0.
We lost the game, that's all I remember.

The Colonel Anyone remember Billy Whitehurst's screamer against Bolton (I think) at Elm Park? Volleyed it over a stranded keeper from inside the centre-circle.

I remember that one. A Steve Francis clearance up field and Billy, obviously too knackered to run took a swing at it from inside the centre citcle and it just flew into the back of the net. Branfoot sold him to Sunderland 2 days later.

I remember Trevor Senior scoring one against Aldershot from the touchline. He chipped the keeper who seemed all of six inches of his line.

Lambert scored a better goal than the one against Forest on Mihaylov's home debut against Huddersfield. Picked the ball up halfway inside our half, ran to within 30yds of goal, cut inside and spanked a dipping shot over Steve Francis.

Jimmy Quinn's last minute 20 yarder past Shilton against Plymouth in 93 which nearly took the net off.

Simon Osborn away at Charlton in 94. Corner headed clear taken first time on the volley from 25yds.

Dean Horrix's shoulder high volley against Gillingham in 85/86.

It's maybe unfair to ignore goals form the last 2 years but they were scored by a team playing excellent football. At times 2005/06 was a nine month showboat. In my mind some of the goals I've picked stand out more because they were moments of genius amid a sea of mediocrity.

I recall it being near the touchline but it's all very hazy. Certainly a good 40+ yards..... :?

I'll toss in a Dylan Kerr free-kick, the last goal in a 3-3 at Carrow Road, dinked it up and over the wall and back down again and their keeper didn't have a chance. Awesome.

Berkshire Born
Forster away to Sheffield Utd ('only one player on the pitch who could have done that' - Colin)

Superb goal, Friday night IIRC?

Anyway, it was featured on Soccer AM's third eye. The camera caught a home fan behind the goal stand up and throw his hands into the air when the ball left Forster's foot as if to mock his effort for sailing wide, only for it to swerve beautifully into the top corner at the last second.

Even some of his own fans were laughing at him as he sat back down looking rather sheepish

Yes, and they cheated by taking a free kick far too quickly for the defence to get back. It wasn't really a back pass anyway.

Marcus gave them the ball back when he should have thumped it away to buy time. Smart play by Brighton, amateurish by us.

Why "apparently so". It definitely happened, I saw it with my own eyes.

Ok, I believe you, I didn't see it myself so have no idea if it was true.

Yes. The bit in bold pretty much agrees with that.

For me it's gotta be when Dylan Kerr pinched that free kick off Mr Quinn.
Back of the net. I'm sure that still keeps JQ up some nights.
