Best goal scored against us last season?

by Compo's Hat » 09 Jun 2007 17:35

Don't think there's been a discussion about this yet.

For me it was David Bentley for Blackburn when they came to the Mad Stad.

Absolute rocket that flew into the top left corner from a wide position on the right.

Can't really remember many to be honest, and only saw a few games unfortunately.

One that sticks out, probably for timing more than anything else was Henry's when they stuffed us 4-0. Cut us to pieces, raced through with a calm finish and pretty much won the game for arsenal in the first 5 mins.

Thierry Henry's first against us at home, class goal Arsenal just passed it around so easily, we hardly got a touch in those first two minutes.

My choice. Hleb's reverse ball to Fabregas, his ball to Henry and that cheeky finish.

Definitely Terry Henry's. It was 0-1 after 58 seconds and if i remeber correctly (could just watch my dvd but that would require effort on a saturday night) our first touch of the ball after kick off was marcus picking the ball up out of the net.

Glad we were stuffed like that by Arsenal, sheer class, normally i'd be upset but was just in awe. Still thought we could win 5-4 though.

Saha's for Man U in the cup was very well taken - shame about our defending leading up to it.

I think Ronaldo's in the league was probably the best overall; (Alan Hansen voice on) Pace. Control. Power - he's got everything.

I hate it when the other team celebrate too much. :)

Alvaro Arbeloa's for Liverpool against us at the MadStad was a good finish, similar to De La Cruz's goal against Sheffield United.

Another one that sticks out was Rob Hulse's finish at Brammel Lane, tight angle and maybe Hahnemann should have done better but still a good finish at a crucial time in the match.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Pedro Mendes' goal against us apart from me. 70th minute or so, 25 yards out, dropping ball, on the volley, sweetly struck onto the inside of Marcus' left post, 3-0, game over. Best goal because of the situation, the technique, the positioning and timing of it. Excellent goal.

Although he should have been sent off with 10 to go...
