Best RFC attacking midfielder of all time?

by SpaceCruiser » 14 Jun 2007 12:22

8th poll, let's get voting...........! And here's the run down.....

Ritchie Bowman

Don't know a lot about him, but I believe he was around in the Maurice Evans era when we won the Division 4 Championship.

Simon Osborn

His Reading career was brief, he joined us from Crystal Palace in 1994 for some paltry fee and was an instant hit with the Reading fans. Scored some specatular goals and played in the play off final against Bolton. Then he was off to QPR for £1.1m (that included the part-exchange for Michael Meaker).

James Harper

Lawrie Sanchez

I don't know much about his career at Reading either, except that he was here during the Maurice Evan era too and gained national fame by scoring the winning goal against Liverpool for Wimbledon in the 1988 FA Cup Final.

Darren Caskey

For the run down, click here

Neil Webb

Again, I don't know much about his Reading career as he was from the Maurice Evans era. Went onto Nottingham Forest and then Manchester United. Got capped by England.

Steve Sidwell

Grant Brebner

Tommy Burns brought him to Reading from Manchester United in the summer of 1998 and his name went into the record books as being the first goalscorer at the Madejski Stadium. Played at Reading for 1 and half seasons before heading up to his home team, Hibernian.

papereyes Grant Brebner?

LOL

Don't worry, I'm sure he won't get many votes. Nobody nominated anybody else. Or even seconded any other nominations.

Yes but let's get it into perspective, I wouldn't say he is the best we've ever had.

Exactly. Being marginally better than Jimmy Crawford & Mark Reilly is not grounds to be included as best ever.

4 votes

Yep - only have to loook at what he did after he left, and maybe compare that with Clough's Forest as well as Man Utd and England.

Hmm, strange one, since he isn't in the poll. Oh, you mean Simon Osborn, what a laugh.

Has to be Neil Webb,a great player when at Reading and went on to play for England, would have had a lot more caps if not for injury.Brian Clough and Sir Alex didn't think he was a bad player either!

Surely though, what they went on to do is irrelevent. It's how they played for us that counts.

Which is why i pointed out the last points are irrelevent. Also not the only person to mention what he did after leaving.
