It was a sign of things to come with Fulham taking 11 minutes to launch a meaningful attack on the break when Brian McBride drove his shot straight at the keeper Antti Niemi.

not our team, but equally as bad

Some sports reporter at Sky News (Not SSN, so not quite as bad) still believes we have a player called Nicky Hunt - and that he scored yesterday.

We seem to get our black players mixed up all the time in away programmes!

Guess these press people don't care so much if its not one of the top 4.

This line from BBC Sport made me chuckle

From the preview for Blackburn vs Reading...

8. Scored the fastest goal in this Premiership season - Lloyd Doyley's opener after 16 seconds against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on 16 September.

The worst mistake has to be on Reading World now in the Blackburn highlights. THE READING WORLD COMMENTATOR WHO IS EMPLOYED BY THE CLUB REPATEDLY CALLS STEPHEN HUNT, NICKY HUNT!!

A review of Manure's cup run. And they still can't get Kitson's first name right.

From BBC's quotes of the week:

"Games are usually Saturday, luckily this is on a Friday so the missus has been understanding. If we'd been playing on the actual day I might have had to postpone it, but don't tell the missus that!"

Reading defender Steve Shorey, who made his England debut against Brazil on Friday, got married on Saturday and was back with the England squad on Monday.

A big LOL at whoever does the fixtures list in Sky Sports for thinking that our game against River Plate on 13th July is going to be at the Mad Stad:

...and a slightly smaller one for calling all our Peace Cup games "friendlies" in the fixture list (linked off the above linked page)

I'm sure Nicky's father was surprised to find that he had been called up for England.

It's the new youth system they've brought in - hopefully it will stop England crashing out of major tournaments at quarter finals and then having to listen to pundits moan about it until the next one. All one big vivious circle, really.

Royals slip up in Peace Cup opener
20070713 14:52
Reading have lost their opening pre-season game, going down 1-0 to River Plate in the Peace Cup in Korea.
Steve Coppell's strong side gave a good account of themselves against the Argentinian giants but were undone by an excellent Matias Abelairas free-kick after half an hour.

The Royals boss chose to field Paul Kitson, Andre Bikey, Brynjar Gunnarsson, Kevin Doyle and Nicky Shorey from the start while summer signing Kalifa Cisse was a second-half substitute, coming on after 76 minutes.
It was a competitive work-out for Reading but the defeat could have been by a greater margin as River wasted the majority of the clear-cut chances in the game.
Danilo Gerlo had already had a goal disallowed and Mauro Rosales hit the post before the goal while, after the break, Augusto Fernandez was denied by two excellent saves from Royals keeper Adam Federici.

I notice that it was the same for our game against Lyon. And now they have the next game at some place which I assume is the home of the Japanese opposition? :? Nihondaira Stadium.....?!?

Think this looks like the work of a program which looks at the "home" team and assumes that they are playing at that place.

This showed as Reading immediately signalled their intent when Nicky Hunt collected a loose ball from kick-off and fired in a curling effort, which was easily gathered

Not again!!
