floyd__streete I didn't get to Molineux yesterday but my spies at the game tell me that Duberry had a mare.

Alan bennett is better than both duberry and bikey, I"m dissapointed he hasn't had a chance to prove it, his time will come

I first thought "no way is he going to be good enough"

The first game I saw him play in confirmed that (Portsmouth?), but gave me some hope.

For teams who will attack through the middle, using height and strength, then he's a useful weapon to have in our arsenal. Otherwise, I'm not so sure.

He is surprisingly quick on his feet. When a drunken H&P shouted Duubs at him, he was disappeared very quickly.

For me, the Duberry/Bikey debate all comes down to pace..................with Sonko injured, unless Bikey takes his place we have none anywhere in the back four.

When Murty was fit last season he over lapped at will knowing that Sonko could get back and bail him out if required.

Duberry and Ingimarrson are too slow a unit for my liking even though they're both decent defenders.

Agreed. I am shocked.

Yeah, spot on I would say. Duberry is decent enough cover, but that partnership could get ripped apart by a pacey striker such as Andy Johnson

The theory about pace is bollocks, look how well Portsmouth done in defence with the likes of De Zeeuw, Stefanovic and Primus in the 1st few seasons in the Prem.

Indeed there are plenty of examples of good defenders that lack pace. Sol Campbell, Jamie Carragher, Ben Haim etc. Pace for a defender should be a back up if they fail to position themselves correctly in the first place, that is the key requirement. Tony Adams never had any pace but his positional sense and tackling were first rate

I didn't say you can't be a good defender without pace just that a whole back four without it is bad news at this level.

I'd say we had done alright without any for a good few seasons now!

i was at the wolves game and wasnt impreessed with dubberys performance , for his size he was so weak and got pushed off the ball very easily.

Sonko took over as soon as Williams left and when Adie was here we tended to defend far too deep because he had no pace.

I'd say we've missed Sonko in this respect more than any other.

Have to say I agree with Woodcote.

Doobs is a decent enough squad player, but I'd be happier with Bikey, he may make some silly challenges, or get caught out, but he'll often make up for those by using his pace to get back or putting in a blinding tackle when he looks beaten.

Plus I think he's more likely to weigh in with the odd goal.

Dubes is ok as cover - but I would have Bikey ahead of him.

Personally I don't think Bikey is all that quick.

He's not slow, and maybe a bit quicker than Dubery but, as the cliche goes, the first two yards are in your head. Bikey is slow upstairs....but getting better.

As fir Doobs, decent cover, but if he has to play a significant number of games we're going to be really tested at the back.

Bikey is big and clumsy
Duberry is big and often caught out of position.
Sodje just isnt good enough.
I`d like to see Pearce at least on the bench and given 15 mins here and there in the first few games, by which time Sonko should be fit.
