He pushed the ball ahead of him, the Villa player stuck his leg out to try to toe the ball away and Gerrard threw himself into his leg. He was definitely stumbling well before he made contact.

Its worse than that - Petrov touched the ball away and Gerrard ran at him, got contact and then immediately turned and appealed.

There's something about him that I really don't like.

Apparently Petr Cech has an abnormally thin skull, making this fracture more likely. It's not an uncommon thing to happen to people, but it causes a much higher percentage chance of something like this to happen. Petr doesn't wear the scrum hat to protect the old injury, merely to stop another one from happening.
Chelsea only found this out after the surgery, hence why they were more careful when Cech came back from injury. Although Cech doesn't want to wear the hat, he fears he has to after the first incident. Chelsea have also refused to give this information over to the press, still trying to denote Hunt and RFC as the major scapegoats in this incident.

With Hunt still refusing to apologise for his Genghis Khan-esque attack on Petr Cech, Mourinho publically states that extra measures will be taken to ensure his team's safety.

At 19.58pm the crowd looks on in amazement as the entire Chelsea team, including management staff, march on to the pitch sporting protective headgear. Overcome with surprise, Reading start sluggishly and Chelsea take an early lead. Steve Sidwell does not have the heart to score against his old club so deliberately aims his shot wide. However, being a shot from a slow central midfielder from Chelsea the ball takes an incredible deflection off something and ends up in the back of the net.

Sidwell's joy is short lived however when a celebration hug from Lampard results in two fractured ribs and a punctured lung. The Royal Berkshire Hospital reacted quickly but due to flooded roads Sidwell can't get the treatment he needs and is out for the season.

Mourinho refuses to pay his water bill as a protest against Thames Water for sabotaging his season through their incompetent flood management schemes. Mourinho is fined consistently by the water board until he is forced to sell Malouda to cover his debts.

Back to the game and Reading are lifted by Sidwell's departure. Stephen Hunt chases a slightly overhit ball from Harper into the Chelsea box. Cech should come out and gather easily but a sudden and vivid flashback renders the big Czech senseless. Hunt taps the ball into the empty net. Cech is sent to the priory.

With minutes remaining, Reading force a corner. The cross from Shorey is a poor one and Essien looks favourite to head the ball clear. Unfortunately for the Ghanian the protective headgear is not designed for heading. The ball cannons off at a funny angle and heads for the Chelsea goal. Cudicini, on for the traumatised Cech, makes a fine reaction save but on the follow through crashes into the post and is knocked out. Long takes advantage of the situation by tapping home the winner with virtually the last touch of the game.

Mourinho refuses to play with goal posts for the remainder of the games this season, insisting that they sabotaged his season. Mourinho is fined for every game he plays with jumpers as goalposts until he is forced to sell Lampard to cover his debts.

That would make me happy.

2-1 Reading.

2-1 Reading

Reading go 1-0 down after 34 minutes thanks to a Frank Lamaprd shot (not deflected  ) , Reading are constantly under pressure.

Second half and Reading score against the run of play after 54 minutes with Hunt tapping in from 12 yards out. Reading gain a foothold against stunned Chelsea who bring on Sidwell , amid boos every time he touches the ball. Sidwell skies a late chance in the 80th minute when Pizzaro was open and Reading go onto score from Gunnarsson outside the box hitting the top corner in the 87th minute.

We can but dream.

Behindu It's shameful that Chelsea have been given extra time to recover from their game - puts us at a major disadvantage.

What? 2 more hours?

Indeed.
It's a disgrace...
If at the end of the game we are knackered and they aren;t then that 2 hours will have been crucial....
Plus we had a long coach journey back whilst their players just had a short glide down the M3 to get home.
Conspiracy....

The Team flew back, good job considering the M40 was closed until Monday.

Another 0-0

It's my brithday today, a last minute winner (or ven a last minute equaliser) would go down very well!

I hope that we play with two up front and manage to avoid conceding early - we'll have a great chance then and (shock horror) the MadStad will be buzzing (though I accept that even if it is deadly silent, it is likely to feel like it's buzzing as I'm leaving work at 3).

2-1 Royals (Doyle and Hunt)

OS suggests that changes will definitely be made from Sunday's side. Possible it'll be 4-4-2, if so I can see it being:

Hahnemann

Murty
Duberry
Ingimarrson
Shorey

Oster
Cisse
Harper
Hunt

Doyle
Long

Subs:

Federici
Bikey
Gunnarrson
Fae/Cox
Seol

Lampard's the real scum , after his lies about Hunt before the return fixture last season.

Still, can't see us taking points of Chelsea, they'll be up for it and will prove too good, sadly.

3-1 Chelsea. Hope Doyle scores, could do with a goal after a dry pre season.

This is an important game.

If we lose we will be 5 points behind Chelsea in the title race already.....
So its important that we take at least a point off them.

But I think we will win it.

Reading 1 Chelsea 0
