If you want to do this properly, we're actually 10 points down as of now as we've lost the 11 points we gained from the relegated sides.

Wish I'd said that.

I think if we can get through these first four games averaging around a point a game we'll have done pretty well.

Just showing that it's pointless trying to compare to last season. It's been and gone. I'm happy we've got the point at OT but to try and say it shows we're in a better situation is well, bizarre, and almost like people are trying to clutch at straws already.

Looking at this season instead of last, we're ahead of where I thought we'd be already!

Which is exactly what happened all through last year - see, it pays to be pessimistic!

When the fixtures came out it struck me that the first two would have been the ones a lot of people would have wanted for our start last season. As it was we got to play some 'lesser' clubs first before taking on the 'Big 4' all in one block. Personally I'm pretty happy that's the way it worked out.

So far we've picked up as many points as I hoped for after the first two games, although I figured it would be a loss to ManUtd and draw to Chelsea.

Its probably nothing but.....

Last Year

Boro 3-2 (Fantastic result)
Villa 1-2 (Unlucky not to get anything, sending off, encouraging patches)
Wigan 0-1 (Uhoh could be in trouble here)

This year

United 0-0 (Fantastic Result)
Chelsea 1-2 (Unlucky not to get anything, sending off, encouraging patches)
Everton Possibility of loss imo (Uhoh could be in trouble here)

When we get to the bread and butter matches in the season I'm sure we wont have too much trouble accumulating points. As last year demonstrated, until around November time we can't get a really good picture of what is to happen in the coming months. Give it time, we'll be fine :)

What the heck. Let's just enjoy some games of football and, if they continue to be against the glory boys, so much the better! I can enjoy Colchester as much as Chelsea.

Or you could always compare it to last seasons start in which case we need to win the next three games to be any better off.

swings and roundabouts... its promising but ground and feet people... we were getting cocky about the chelsea match at Ht and got turned over. lets avoid the hubris please!

Agree with you Old Biscuitman. We are playing well and if we continue to play to this level we will be fine so there is no need to worry about comparisons with last season.....although I would like a comparable result against Wet Sham again though
