How many points by January?

by bcubed » 19 Sep 2007 13:28

I can see us beating Wigan Derby and Sunderland and picking up a point against Newcastle Fulham and Boro.

That would make 16 points in all. Not impressive but can anyone see where we might get further points?

The only consolation is that West Ham had just 18 points at the same stage last year and they survived

By the skin of thier teeth! Think we'll be in a better position than they were come january, as it seems most people do outside of Reading.

That's a very pessimistic analysis.

We could quite possibly beat Wigan, Derby, Newcastle, Fulham, Boro, Birmingham, Sunderland, West Ham and Spurs.

Not saying we will, but it's certainly not out of the question to beat all or some of them - and certainly more than just the 3 you suggest.

I did a quick re-calculation of my expected results for the whole season the other day and it now comes out at 45 as opposed to 52 at the beginning of the season. I thought 52 would see us in 7th, while now 45 will be good enough for 14th. But then we might splash the cash in January and that figure could go up again.

Which other games do you see us winning?

We will beat Fulham at home and away. And we'll beat Boro.

I'm currently on about 30 and I got ten of those when I joined.

Not intending to go to any games though so probably about the same.

or put it another way if we manage to beat Wigan and Derby and get 1 point from either Pompey, Newcastle or Blackburn, then that will put us on 11 points after 11 games. Only 2 points less than the same time last year !!!

Another point is that at thhe end of the year after 21 games we had 27 points.

So in conclusion If we finish the Portsmouth game on the 1st January with 27 points then we have matched last year.

So we have 4 points now

Wigan (h) - 3
Portsmouth (a) - 0
Derby (h) - 3
Blackburn (a) - 0
Newcastle (h) - 3
Fulham (a) - 3
Arsenal (h) - 0
City (a) - 0
Boro (h) - 3
Liverpool (h) - 0
Brum (a) - 3
Sunderland (h) - 3
West Ham (a) - 1
Spurs (a) - 0
Pompey (H) - 3

25pts plus 4 = 29 pts - 2 more than at the same time next year!!!!

Just call me Mr Optimistic 8)
