Murty, Sonko, Ingimarsson, Shorey

...................Harper.....................

.........Gunner..........Hunt..............

Doyle....................................Lita

...................Kitson......................

Fae was absolute carp Saturday, couldn't control the ball more than two touches before turning it over. Deserves the bench.

The ball is round. It's always turning over and this is proper football, not rugby or american football!

"giving it away," then. "Losing possesion." Call it what you will. I'd expect that, when passed the ball, the next player to touch it should be wearing a like-colored shirt.

Maybe he is sh1tting himself then and can't relax on the pitch yet, the first thing to go when you're in that mindset is your touch. He obviously isn't playing as well as he can, based on how highly some people have rated him.
That's the problem we have, do we give him time to bed in, and maybe put some more below par performances in, or do we go with Gunnar there who can't do a job for 90 minutes? I always thought Bikey might be worth a try at DM, is that where he played on Sat? and was he any good?

I think it will be:

Hahnemann
Murty Sonko Ivar Shorey
Convey(if fit) Harper Fae Hunt
Doyle Kitson

Federici, Lita, Duberry, Gunnarsson, Rosenior

Lita in for Convey and Doyle on the right if the Bobsta isn't match fit.

I'd be fairly happy with that, though would be inclined to give Shorey a bit of a wake up by dropping him for De La Cruz... or maybe De La for Murty.

no bikey wasnt good

personally i think coppell has done a bad job with fae, from what i have seen of him he is best when he is dictating the game in the middle, but he has to prove himself to coppell because he knows coppell is very unlikely to drop gunner, so he runs around like a headless chicken.....therefore he didnt play well

Interesting that a number of team selections on here dont include Rosenoir..he clearly does not appear to be good enough playing rightmidfield. Given Murts lack of pace I think he should be played at right back and we can then see whether he is good enough in presumably his more accustomed position.

:idea: My team to beat the Toon;
Marcus
Murty Sonko Ivar Shorey
Rosenior Hunt Harps Convey
Doyle Kitson
Subs; Leroy Gunnar Bikey Henry.

I said Bikey wud be a mistake in midfield on Saturday and he woz , but I did say give Fae a start. Error , this bloke looks really poor , lets get some money back in Jan sales for him .The first half at Blackburn woz really bad , but we came back fighting in 2nd.
Lets see how the game goes on Sat and try and give Henry a chance.
We ll still be Ok this season.....honest !

pearcetom Doyle

Doyle, Doyle, Doyle, Doyle

Doyle, Doyle, Doyle, Doyle

Doyle, Doyle

Bench: Doyle, Doyle, Doyle, Doyle, Doyle

maybe a winning side?

I will go along with the lineup above. Although, to be fair, I would start the Doyle that came off the bench and scored two on Saturday. I can't make out if he is in the starting Doyles or on the bench of Doyles. Either way, he deserves a run out for the full 90. :P

Personally, I'd like to see:

------------------Hahneman---------------------

Murty-----Sonko-----------Ivar---------Shorey

Doyle-------Gunnar-------Harps----------Hunt

-----------------Lita------Kitson----------------

Bench: Federici, Fae, Rosenior, Bikey, Convey

I think we have to play positively in the first half and go for goals. Otherwise Newcastle will overwhelm us and we will have no chance of shutting up shop in the 2nd half as we chase the game.

This game is gonna be a big one for the crowd and we really need everyone to get behind the team. Otherwise it's gonna be another embarrasing deathly silence apart from the loud noise of the large numbers of Geordies inevitably out-singing and out-playing us !

We must a least get a point from this one !

Looks good to me, although I would still rather see Fae start ahead of Gunnarsson and I'm not sure that Convey will be on the bench, more likely to be Long.

Hoop Blah
Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Still don't think he'll drop Hunt though....

No way will he drop Hunt right now.

I think we might see Convey on the right with Doyle upfront with Kitson though.

On the OS today:

Steve Coppell We could play Bobby Convey, but his problem is consistently playing and training. Sonko has probably played more games in the last month than Bobby has in the last four months. So Bobby needs a week or two of training, a couple of reserve games and for him not to be conscious of his injury. I don't think that's the case at the moment.

The team that Coppell will select will be:

-------------------------Hahnemann-----------------------

Murty-------Sonko----------Ingimarsson--------Shorey

Rosenior-----Harper--------Gunnarsson-----------Hunt

----------------Kitson----------Doyle---------------------

given the circumstances, I would probably choose the same team.

Convey aint fit. Oster is out, Cisse is out, Fae was poor last time out.

Little is out, Doobs is slow.

Subs would have to be:

Fae
De La Cruz
Long
Fed
Bikey

I think De La Cruz could be a good option as a right winger. He is good at getting forward.

DLC got to be better bet than Rosenior (the new (small) Andy Hughes).

I dont think Andy Hughes played for the England U21's...........

By the sounds of it coppell is getting closer to giving James Henry a chance, but i think he will play Doyle there on saturday

My team would be:

Hahnemann

Murts
Sonko
Doobs
Shorey

Doyle
Fae
Harps
Hunt

Lita
Kitson

Subs:
Fed
Bikey
Gunnar
Henry
Long

According to the hints that Coppell has dropped on the OS, it looks like our team will be this:

---------Hahnemann

Murty Sonko Ingimarsson Shorey

Doyle Harper Gunnarsson Hunt

----------Kitson Lita

I think its time to change the formation to (3-5-2)
Federici
Ingimarsson Sonko Bikey
Murty Shorey
Hahnemann
Harper
Doyle Convey
Kitson

I;m deadly serious about this, Marcus cud bring a Quarterback style thrust to bring creativity, while all 3 centre backs should stop the goals. Doyle and Convey to work the channels and Kitson to win us the match

No, no, no! The last thing we should be doing is confusing the players anymore than they already are! Coppell dicked about with the formation on Saturday, and it didn't work because the players didn't know who should be marking who/where. When things are going badly, the most sensible course would just be to focus on gong back to basics.

The players understand 4-4-2, and what their individual roles within the system are. Let's just focus on getting the balance of the team right, improving individual play (like passing accurately over a distance of 10 metres or more), getting results and slowly rebuilding confidence. Then, and only then, can we start to consider complicating matters!
