voyeur 12th in the league, who would have thought we would be there?

We were 12th before the newcastle match though?

Sir Steve.. very relieved look, but what was his reaction about when Lita came off?
Arse patting after Longy's goal? .

Overall verdict: see, we can play, pretty to watch. Doom and gloom? Pah!

1652: FULL-TIME Reading 2-1 Newcastle
That means Reading have equalled the number of points from 11 games that they had last term. What was that about second-season syndrome.

quite right.

Man Friday We may be 12th but the table is most definitely lying. Within 2 weeks (3 max) we're be in the bottom 3...and then stay there. If alarm bells aren't ringing, you must be deaf (Bolton 3-0 says it all).

Royalee We have four positions where we're good enough - two strikers on the pitch at a time, left back and one centre back in Sonko. The rest of our team is a complete shambles, which is why we're going down.

One win doesn't make a season but there have been so many ignorant, smug, knee-jerk (jerk being the operative word) reactions in the last couple of months (just a couple of examples above). Too early days for full faced humble pie gorging but I trust there will be a few acknowledgements that maybe some of those obseravtions were a little hasty.

Phew!

That was so much better.

A fantastic team performance. Gunnarsson was outstanding. He worked really hard and won his battles in midfeld. Well done after all the criticism he has taken. Kitson superb, Shorey and Sonko did really well.

Doyle brilliant on the right. We just need Lita to show a bit more quality finishing. He must be cheesed off after Long scored with his first shot.

Now for Fulham

Love this bit from the report on the BBC:-

In stark contrast to Newcastle, Reading looked well organised with Ibhamima Sonko brilliantly leading the line at the back, Stephen Hunt giving the sluggish Newcastle midfield little time to think and the superb Doyle working tirelessly in order to create a sniff of a chance for his team-mates.

Could Doyle be the creative spark we've been lacking?

true, but no doubt Steve will revert to one up front at Fulham (not complaining, I trust him).

But why not go for broke and have the same starting 11 there, with the subs available to adapt to any situation that arises? On the recent evidence away from home, I do not want us sitting back.

Indeed could Doyle be the answer to our right midfield problems...not good news for your pal John Oster though Archie...

Huge result today....we are opening a gap between ourselves and the bottom three....great to see.

Well if Doyle can play well on the right I'm prepared to take back all I said. Still think he should be playing up front with Kitson but without a right winger he will certainly do. We certainly have one of the best attacks in the premiership imho...

I definitely would keep Doyle on the right for the foreseeable future, including the Fulham game.

I'm sure that when Lita does manage to tuck one away, his confidence will return and he'll be banging them in for fun.

You dont have to take anything back...you felt Oster deserved a run and stated why. If he had not been injured he would have had that run. No one is right or wrong here. I agree Doyle to me is a centre forward but if it means he plays and two out of Kitson, Lita/Long start it does make us more potent. Yes we are conceding goals but are now scoring in good numbers as well...our forwards after a slow start are buzzing now.

And with Doyle on the right it allows us to keep the 4-4-2 shape which we are so used to (with a defensive midfielder). And When we do need a goal Doyle can simply get up there as a striker.

Well I think most people were at the match - and all the normal moaners who didn't go obviously weren't on here as we were playing well!

Heard Big Sam moaning about your tactics not allowing Newcastle to play or something afterwards...black,pot and kettle came to mind.
