Can't believe i forgot this one.

I saw Lea Barkus in Lings Garden Chip Shop on wokingham road once.

The fortunes of the chip shop which later became New Ocean Chinese Fish Bar have declined (like the footballing career of Mr Barkus) with it finally being turned into another variation on the fried chicken themed outlet.

chrispa I am the Grim Reaper who got on the pitch and had the photo taken with the players and trophy when we won the Championship...

And the proof...

Anyone could have made that sign and got a mask just like that.

I need more proof.

I got onto SKY Sports when we were 2-0 down at Sunderland (a few years ago). Half time and I was sitting at the front as we'd only brought about 100 fans. Presenter came across and asked if I wanted to give an interview. I babbled crap for two minutes basically saying "we need strikers" & "we need to get the ball up there" over and over again. Not my best of moments.

The company I owned sponsored the Royals during the promotion year.

i was the EA sports fifa 07, official talksports fan panel member for Reading FC (offical title)last season

pretty poor performance over all, very nervous when waiting to speak to townsend, parry, durham, brazil, et al -and was gutted i never got to speak to Houghton.
but managed to get in a patronising"i hope they stay in business" about oxford,
slagged off colin wnaker
and had a go at mike parry for going on about us fielding our reserves in the cup

certainly gave me an extra buzz for our 1st season up here.

Claims to fame ..?

Well ... I missed a penalty away at Millwall during the promotion year.

Was on the Promotion DVD at Leicester

And also in the Cardiff away programme for the leicester game

That is all.

Had my photo in the EP being presented with a certificate by Maurice Evans on the pitch at Elm Park before a game Vs Mansfield Town in about 1980 because the six-a-side team I was captain of came divisional runners up.

One of the player in that team then went on to play for the reserve squad.

I like to think it was my influence. 8)

Played in the same non-league team as Alan Pardew.

Jerry St Clair
gn1982 i found space to fit in extra seats that actually increased the stadium capacity (those lovely seats fixed ot metal platforms in the top corners of the nw and sw stands are my idea!)

So, you're the reason why I bought an ST at the back of the East Stand all those years ago, only to find that now I have a wakner sat behind me who tells me to sit down every five minutes :x

Sorry about that one, on the bright side all those steps should make him fit enough to one day be able to stand for the length of a game... problem solved.

Met John Pratt (goalkeeper who moved from Wycombe to Reading in July 1969 - made 29 appearances) at a petrol station. He saw me wearing my Royals shirt and started talking to me. Had no idea who he was, mind.

I once phoned Elm Park to get match tickets for an away game, and Mark McGhee answered the phone to me! Can you imagine Steve Coppell picking up a ringing phone in the general office/reception area now?

My sister used to go out with Jamie Lambert, and the tight git only ever offered me free tickets to a game once (Grimsby away)

Aaron Giamettei lived in the next street to me, and I used to play football with him and his brothers when I was a boy

And my wife arranged for Coppell and the players to sign a Wedding card for me, which was given to me by my best man. I was so chuffed with this, I spent most of his speech looking at it, and didn't take in his speech at all (apparantly it was rubbish!)

I did a couple of weeks' work experience at the club in the mid-90s. Gooding, McPherson, Parky, Booty and Dominic Noonan (assistant groundsman) and Parky were the friendliest. Steve Kean shadow-boxed me. Morley was the frostiest, Quinn indifferent, I had trouble understanding Byron Glasgow. Answered the phone to Shaka Hislop and Dave Bassett. Also did a Pundits' Panel once under Clive Baskerville.

Similar thing happened to me. I went into the club "shop" (the bit that was like a post office counter) to get tickets and there was no-one around.

I coughted loudly and McGhee wandered out fromt he office and said "sorry, there's no-one around. can I help". I blustered that i wanted to buy tickets for an away game (i forget which one) and McGhee apologised that he didn't know how to work the till so couldn't help!

Without meaning to sound arrogant in any shape or form, I am single-handedly responsible for us winning the championship and all our ensuing success. At the end of the 04/05 season, after we'd been god awful at the end of the season and missed out on the playoffs, (I believe after having led the league at one stage), I saw Mr Sidwell ,dressed like a 'Saff London rude boy, exiting the train at Padders station.

I went up to him (the only person that recognised him at the time), shook his hand, and got him to promise me that he would never go to West Ham like Mr Parjudas. After having a short chat and getting an autograph, we both went our seperate ways, and the rest as they say, is history

And me but I got served by Martin Hicks. He was a 'natural' behind the counter.
