Interesting how things remain pretty similar from season to season.

Liverpool won the fair play league last season and are top at the moment, Blackburn were the biggest sinners last season and are again bottom in this.

Our second place last season came on the back of three 1-2s with Crewe (with them twice coming out on top) in the Championship…

Unfortunately that's not the figures that are used for Europe - there's more than just red and yellow cards measured - there are abstract things like attitude of supporters etc. (We probably lost points for abusing Gerrard on Saturday).

What was the abuse? Didn't come across on the telly. Was it the old:

Gerrard takes it up the rear...
Doo dah Doo dah

Type stuff?

"Where were you at Wembley?" and considerable booing whenever he came to take a corner.

Also there are 2 leagues running. One is teams in the country, and one is for country's themselves. So it's the top team (that haven't already qualified for Europe) from the top country with fairest record that gets a spot, and then 2 other countries are pulled from a hat out of a list of about a dozen and the top teams from their fair play leagues qualify. So we would need to be the fairest non European qualifier in a league of pretty fair teams to get a spot, or be very lucky and have our nation pulled from a hat and be the top team.

I'd love to see it but at the same time look what happened to Millwall when they juggled Europe and the Championship.

Coppell, if he stays (if we go down) will field weakened sides anyway.

Will you travel to watch the reserves play another European unknown?

Fair play league is getting tighter.

Thgis was position last week

http://www.premierleague.com/page/FairP ... 06,00.html

Only teams above us unlikely to qualify for Europe are man City and Wigan and they are 3 and 8 points ahead of us

Could get interesting if we keep our discipline

Curiously it is the "Behaviour of Officials" category which is letting us down, compared to Citeh and Wigan. I wonder what the club officials are doing that is losing us points?

I think you can probably make an educated guess as to who the issue might be with there.

Yeah, I wish Coppell and Grant would just sit down and shut up sometimes.
