Forgotten Men of the Madejski Era

by Ginger Ninjas » 23 Jan 2008 10:15

AUTO WINDSCREENS SHIELD SOUTH Q-FINAL

Date: 24 January 2000

BRISTOL ROVERS 1 READING 2

Attendance: 4,948

Team: Howie, Gurney, Primus, Polston, Gray, Evers (McIntyre), Caskey, Grant, Williams (Murty), Forster, Nicholls (Scott).

Scorers: Nicholls 2

Looking at Hobnob's report archive it took me quite some time to figure out who the goalscorer for Reading was. Had completely forgotten about the Chelsea loanee who also played in these fixtures during the 'dark days' of League One....
03-01-2000 Football League One Gillingham 2-2 Reading 1
08-01-2000 Football League One Reading 1-1 Blackpool 0
15-01-2000 Football League One Reading 0-0 Cambridge 0
18-01-2000 Football League Trophy Barnet 1-2 Reading 0
22-01-2000 Football League One Luton 3-1 Reading 0
24-01-2000 Football League Trophy Bristol R 1-2 Reading 2
29-01-2000 Football League One Reading 2-0 Colchester 0

Are there any other 'forgotten men' from the (near) decade that we've resided at the Mad Stad? Erik Obinna would be a more recent favourite!

Omar Daley. Heard that he'd just been granted a work permit to play for Bradford City

Clearly these people aren't forgotten if you remember them.

I was gonna post someone up from the Burns era but I've forgotten him. 8)

Wasn't there a winger who came up from the youth ranks during the Tommy Burns era. Name might have been Alex Haddow?

Keith Scott. How the Wycombe fans laughed when we signed him, yet his goal vs Bradford was a special Madejski moment. A proper piece of footy skill.
