Mr Sonko Actually think this is JM's big gamble...
Why can Bolton afford Cahill and Taylor but we have to make do with unknown imports who may take six monthe to come up to speed.? Bolton have a smaller average gate than us and access to the same TV money. Now I know they sold Anelka for £15m but really that sort of money should be available from the TV cash anyway. The reason Bolton can do it and we cant is simple; we wont pay full Prem wages to players so we only get wannabies.
This is largely becuase JM dislikes the level of wages in the Prem; this is the main reason he wants to sell in my view.
We have seen approx £70m in the last two seasons yet have spent less than £6... where is it going? I suspect its going to pay off JM's loans to the club. That way he will graduallly back out of the club even without finding a Billioinaire buyer.I'd be interested in the views of those of you who have seen the club accounts...
By the way I'll be at Everton shouting as loud as ever and have really enjoyed the last 15 years thanks largely to JM.

Rev Algenon Stickleback H Most on the outside also don't appreciate how many teams are living way beyond their means. They also don't tend realise we've actually spent about £11 million since promotion.
Seol £1.5 million
Halford £2.5 million
Cisse £0.5 million
Rosenior (swap for Seol, so another £1.5 million?)
Fae £2.5 million
Bikey £1 million
Bennet £0.5 million
Matejovsky £1.5 million
Duberry £800,000
Kebe £400,000

Surely it's only worth talking about net spending - in which case you can forget Halford and Rosenior.
Maths not your strong point eh? About £7.7 mill net.
(Says me who can't spell for shit)
So that's around £9M in 2 years.
And let's not go into effective spending.

Forest Gump Personally I agree that football carries financial risk. The clubs that are willing to take a gamble and invest in their squads deserve to get success and on this basis Reading FC do not deserve it. So if we get relegated - and this seems a pretty strong possibility - it will be no more than the Club deserves.

I tend towards the opposite view on this.
Coppell / RFC has shown a huge amount of faith in the first team squad, and in these days of rotation policies and desperation buys it is somewhat refreshing to see. Personally I think this is more deserving of success.

Using these figures (and not counting any fee for Rosenior as it was straight swap
Seol £1.5 million
Halford £2.5 million
Cisse £0.5 million
Rosenior (swap for Seol, so another £1.5 million?)
Fae £2.5 million
Bikey £1 million
Bennet £0.5 million
Matejovsky £1.5 million
Duberry £800,000
Kebe £400,000
Then
- 2.5 we recieved for Halfords.

I'm Silly The only possible hope we have of staying up is if Coppell for once in his life has the guts to hold his hands up and admit defeat. If he is not gone before the Everton match we are fooked.
