Dunne Injury?

by LoyalRoyalFan » 08 Mar 2008 18:21

Has anyone got any news on the Dunne injury?
It seemed quite serious on the radio and people were saying Stephen Hunt got him hard.

Was the main reason Reading won today IMO. Dunne is a proper centre half, hope he's ok.

Read the match review on the beeb site before attempting to tar Hunty with the 'dirty' player brush

Slightly random, but does anyone know why Hart was so angry after the game?

It was a fair challenge - Hunt and Dunne went for the same ball head on, and with those two neither was ever going to wimp out. But I don't think there's any suggestion of a foul from either of them.

Dunne got up from it and they played on - he only went down injured a minute or two later - but he left on a stretcher with his lower leg immobilised.

Absolutely clattered in a fair 50/50 challenge by Hunty, the Bionic Man. Won us the game probably, what with City's centre-half issues.

Standard 50-50 challenge, a hard but totally fair tackle from Dunne, unfortunately he hurt his knee in the process and was stretchered off. Fortunate for Reading because their defence was all over the place after that, but it's never good to see the stretcher/golf cart come out.

Could be because he'd had a mare - his kicking was appalling and he was nowhere near either of the goals.

(Please note he's a future England international and his kicking was ten times worse than Hahnemann's, bad kicking does not always make a bad keeper.)

Let's not forget that a keeper should never let himself get beaten at his near post - and Hart did twice.

Dunne had a deep long gash in his shin that required 9 stitches.

It was a totally fair challenge on both sides, but Hunt's foot connected with Dunne's shin as they came together. Dunne also seemed to land awkwardly but he had blood pouring from his leg and that was what he came off for.

Not as bad as first feared.

That's good then, shouldn't keep him out long.

That's incredibly harsh!! Absolutely no chance with the 1st and wasn't at fault for the 2nd IMO.

Don't know - I'd question his positioning for both goals. I'll retract it if I think I need to after MOTD ....

I think it may be a bit harsh to say he was at fault, but keepers hate seeing the ball passed into the net and being powerless to stop it, which may have caused his anger.

I'm in absolute shock that this is being taken so wrongly by so many.

It wasn't anywhere near a challenge, let alone a 50/50 one! Dunne 100% clattered into Hunt and probably a little too aggresively and not far off from a foul in my opinion.

Hunt was simply running with the ball totally innocently and Dunne came in on him HARD.

I'm surprised Hunt wasn't injured. No foul play at all, but if anyone is going to be accused of a foul it'd be Dunne for an extremely hard challenge on a player running full pelt.

Not even sure I can say Dunne didn't deserve it.

Glad he's ok though - just a gash.
