silchester rovers My first game since the damp squib of the Spurs FA cup reply and the tepid game against Portsmouth. Things do seem to have moved in right direction...
Hahnemann - 8 - good saves, presence in box, distribution erratic - not helped by wind
Shorey - 7 - steady
Ingermarsson - 8 - developing good partnership with Bikey
Bikey - 9 - pace and presence, almost faultless
Harper - 7 - competent and swept up the loose balls with simple passes
Mateowosky 7 - busy, but can't tackle - this red has been waiting to happen...
Hunt - 6 - he tried hard, but couldn't beat defenders and touch erratic - injury to hamsting some mitigation
Oster - 6 - Lacks pace, some neat touch, substitution inevitable after going down to 10 men
Doyle - 7 - Work rate and dribbling out of top drawer - need him to get on end of balls in box , not Hunt
Kitson - 7 - Like Doyle, too much of his best play out of the penalty area

Cisse - 6 - didnt do anything to set game alight
Long - 8 - Works well as impact player, gave defenders /GK no peace

No 13 - 8 - As good as any Reading game I've been to where we haven't won

The team - 8 - Can't fault the effort and spirit, especially after the sending off

Corners - 5 - too many seemed to be floated in to high, meaning that they could be easily cleared away

Free kicks - 7 - It wasnt going to happen this week after the superb deliveries last week

NB - Simod cup team presentation - pity it wasnt 10 mins before game rather than during the half time break - any views?

You make a very good point about Doyle feeding off crosses from Hunt and not the other way around.
I also agree about the Simod Cup presentation. I missed it as family members were hungry so was queuing for food.

PEARCEY Marek 5 Didn't seem on same wavelength as Doyle and Kitson

Think you may have got that the wrong way round! Oh for someone like Defoe or Keane to make the intelligent runs which Marek would find

Doyle, for once, looked more effective on the wing than up front. Almost worth not starting Shane for the impact he has when he comes on as a sub.

No he didn't. He looked half arsed and lost. Never reacted quick enough when he did get the ball and then gave it away. I know he's low on confidence right now but he looks petrified when he has the ball and needs to be dropped.

very understated and under appreciated (given the achievement that it actually was). Should have been a lap of honour at 14.45!

Marcus - 9 Our clean sheet is down to him
Rosie - 6
Bikey - 9 Immense defence...rapidly becoming the real deal.
Ivar - 7
Shorey - 6
Oyster - 7 Good enough
Harps - 7
Matty - 6
Hunty - 5
Doyler - 5
Kits - 5

Shane - 7 Turned us from a ten man team defence to matchwinning offence....outstanding pace
Cisse - 6

Marcus and Bikey well ahead of all others
Everyone else did ok, the final ball or shot apart
Doyle played well but I think the only way he will score is by one going in off his backside. Having said that we do not create enough chances for him and he is too often the one out on the wing chasing down defenders and putting in a cross (to noone)
And Kitson looks as lazy as in his bad old days. Anyone giving him more marks than Doyle should be banned from giving marks on this board

Marcus - 8
Rosenior - 8 A good game
Bikey - 9 Very good under pressue
Ivar - 7
Shorey - 7
Oster - 1 - and I'm being generous, gave the ball away, ran around players a few times, then turned and passed it backwards, petulant attitude, was subbed far too late in the game.
Harps - 7
Matejovski -6 - unlucky to have been carded, some good touches, not as influential as earlier games
Hunt - 6
Doyle - 7 - Tried, but no rub of the grenn at the moment
Kitson 7

Long - 8 - a handful for defenders.
Cisse - 6

Presumably you boo Oster when he gets the ball. You clearly chose to ignore the good things he did yesterday including creating the most dangerous moment for Blackburn's defence in the first half and a clever ball to Harper into the penalty box which Harps did not make the most of.
Yes he gave the ball away but no more than anybody else in the side.

Oster had one of his better games and certainly did a lot more good than bad.
It's a shame when people can't just watch what happens in front of them without preconceived prejudices getting in the way

Two things stand out.

1 - Shorey most always hoofing it upfield.
2 - Hunt's finishing.

Ok, three:

3 - And Marek most definitely did not deserve the red. Woeful second-half officiating.

ok, four:

One of the commentators was deffo pro-Reading; kind of enjoyed that. Laughed at his "Gamst Peder...whatever his name is..." comment.

That was Martin Allen. Funny-ish but still an arse.

If there had been an ex-Blackburn player working for Sky and making comments as biased as he was ("we were fortunate", "we did well there" etc.) there would have been apoplexy on here. He admitted before the game started that he was a Reading supporter.

Doyle seems to be starting on the basis of merit from last seasons efforts!! I mean even LITA has scored finally now!!
