The whole year inn Something has to drastically change for us to go to Wigan and win. Their home record is what has them relatively safe and they don't concede many at home; they only have two more away points than Reading

I'll grant you they don't concede many at home, but I would query the logic that their home form has them that safe as they only have two more HOME points than us as well. Their home record is therefore less than one win better than ours and we are perceived to be dangling over the pit of doom...a win for us Saturday returns them to the edge of the pit, at least - unless both Brum and Fulham fail to win, in which case everyone else in any danger will want Fulham to beat Brum next week and we'll all be safe...SIMPLE!

Eternal optimism and the fact that we've never personally seen a Reading goal at Wigan leads me to the conclusion that a 1-1 or 2-1 to us is something to aspire to...Kitson with the one in a draw or both in a 2-1 win.

Liverpool ladies team will beat the Brummies and Spurs will find some "bothered" to dump Bolton down 2 or 3-nil. Fulham will do no better than a draw at Citeh...

ElmParker Matejovsky and Little supplying Lita and Kitson = loads of narrowly missed opportunities.

And one precious, precious away goal.

0-1

Was up there last game of the season a few years ago when Wigan secured promotion to the Prem and we needed a result for a play off place.

We were shite that day, and I dont forsee any improvement on that.

Hence - Wigan 3 - Reading 0

If we continue to play hoof ball and just wellie it up the park we will not get any points in the next three games. I am just not confident enough in the team to secure a win but can see Birmingham getting points against a very weakened Liverpool team. Will the Reading team feel this also and will it add more pressure on them to deliver at Wigan?

Well any way I'm going up to see the game but just not looking forward to a miserable bastard journey home if we do get beat.

I'm going over-the-top optimistic, which no doubt I'll regret, but I'm going for 1-1 with us scoring first.

Can't see past a home win and can't see us scoring so 1 or 2-0 to Wigwam.

Plenty of Compo's Hat-led ironic singing from the back of the stand.

If Coppell sees the light and plays Lita and Doyle up front with Convey and Little on the wings then we might just sneak this. Hunt and Kitson should be bench warmers only.

Matejovsky and Harper in Midfield for me and Shorey, Sonko, Ingi and Murty at the back with Hahnemann.

Remaining bench places to be given to Fed, Bikey and Rosenior please.

This team should work ! and I'd wager a 2-0 victory with the above.

Wigan 1 Reading 0

Brum 1 Lpool 0

Spurs 2 Bolton 1

To be fair Wigan were unlucky to lose at the mad stad earlier in the season.

I know I might get shot down in flames here but - When everyone shouts URZ it sounds like "Oooh aargh" what with our country accents. Is it just me that finds it a little embarassing? A Man city mate asked why we shout "oooh aaargh" randomly.

Royalwaster Wigan 2 - 0 Reading - we never do well at the JJB and I can't see this changing this season. Let's just hope B'ham don't win or draw.

I can think of 2 wins for us there in the last 4 or 5 years, so our record there can't be that bad ??????

Unless last season is all that counts..........

Still think we'll lose though. 1-0. Heskey more than likely.

Country accents? You've clearly never been to the West Country or Norfolk if you think the Reading accent is country!

I couldn't give a monkey's what we sound like as long as we're making noise.

Depending on which Reading turn up we could manage a win. I hope.

Yeh, that'd guarentee us that elusive goal.

Wigan 2 - 0 Reading
However, I forsee an improvement. 2 shots on target.

But players and management subsequently will declare how heartened they were by their good performance and that it augers well for the remaining games!

But boy do I hope Melksham Royal is proved correct!

Depends on the midfield. Harper and Matejovsky = no midfield presence, no protection, no service, hoofball. Bikey = control of the midfield battle (or at least not being muscled out of it totally), some protection for the defence and some time on the ball for our creative players. Since it'll probably be the first I'll go for a depressingly inevitable

Wigan (1) 2-0 Reading (Heskey 17, Valencia 75)

Birmingham to draw with Liverpool reserves, Bolton to draw at Spurs, bottom 3.

Lita to play, try fairly hard but still be slagged off by some of our more blinkered fans, Oster to be no worse than everyone else if he plays but still to get more abuse, substitutes to be made after 78 minutes.

I always make negative predictions in the hope the opposite happens but I can't really see anything here, Wigan have conceded 1 home goal in 3 months, we have 6 away points, doesn't look good does it?
