Looking FORWARD to 2008/9 already! Understand? NOT Backwards

by Royal Rother » 11 May 2008 18:04

Chin up guys, it's only a game.

Personally speaking I'm looking forward rather than backwards now and will not be getting involved in the post mortems that have been ongoing for so many months anyway. A waste of time and energy.

I am confident we will be able to keep most of the important members of the squad and that we will be able to bounce straight back, particularly so if Coppell is still in charge.

If we keep Marek we'll be in a good position next year.

I am already looking forward to next year now and the thrill of the chase. (i.e I agree)

We could also see some of our youth players break through next year. at least one has already proven capable at championship level.

I look forward to you not participating in debates about errors in 2007/08, RR.

I'm not looking forward to next season in the Championship.

I'm looking forward to my season ticket. I've never had one before.

Where's the best place to sit?

Anyone got one to give me?

Looking forward, I think we are only a left back (assuming Shorey goes), and a couple of new wingers short of a promotion challenge. Roll on next season, bye bye to the plastics and the club getting back on track. If Steve Coppel stays I can see us bouncing back. Please Don't leave Steve!

I hope the management team don't have the same attitude. In order to improve, they are really going to have to pick over the bones of what didn't go as right this year as last.

One eye on next season but a calm, rational response to this is the only way forwards.

I'm dissapointed, I'm gutted, I'm heart broken even, but thank God it's over.

I just hope it's Steve Coppell leading us to a promotion charge next season and not some pillock that will ruin all the hard work we've seen here in the past 8 years.

Just a look at the Leicester's, the Coventry's, the Sheffield Wednesday's. It can all get a lot worse yet if we don't have the right man in charge.

It was great while it lasted, and IMO it should have lasted a lot longer but the investment wasn't there. Coppell's fault or the Championship Chairman's, it wasn't there.

Thanks for the memories.

I'm well looking forward to it.

It'll be well lush for a top half finish to be a realistic expectation again.

I more than likely won't be in a position to renew my season ticket next season, so it'll be far easier to get to the odd home game and whatever away games I fancy too. My ST neighbours will probably think I'm a massive glory hunter with my disappearance though, but that's out of my hands, it's not a choice.

Derby, QPR,Birmingham,Southampton,Wolves,Charlton and Sheffield Utd here we come. I think a huge effort by the current squad could get us into the play-offs.

Totally agree.

Mistakes have been made and all this talk of getting over it and looking forward sounds worringly like not learning from those mistakes.

The league is worse than when you guys romped home and if you can the squad together I am sure you will be around the top 2.

We've been rubbish since November and managed a play-off place which proves how average it is.

It will be a very busy summer and what happens in the next three months will determine where we finish next May.
Coppell needs to stay as he has a proven record at winning promotion from the Championship but the number of departures of key players worries me.

GUTTED

Time for Parky to come in. Hate to say it but having seen SC speak after the game "it's really for other people to decide what happens" I honestly think he'll be leaving.

Fully expect the following to leave:

Marek (just to good)
Hunt
Doyle
Shorey

also possibly Lita and Kitson.

On the plus side Pearce, Robson-Kanu and Jem look very tasty. With Little coming back next year our squad should have plenty to challenge next season.

As it did last season, but when people suggested that we might not have done enough, they were told they were 'clueless'.

Spot on. I was castigated for my thoughts on this last summer.
