I've disagreed with a lot that Sir Steve has done recently and there's no doubt that he's got some responsibility for what's happened, but DON'T GO! There are no better managers who will come to us; but forgetting that I want him/you to take us back and to leave us on a high not like this!

Dirk Gently Some of you are missing the point. SSC will be going because he recognises that the team needs refrshing and the deadwood clearing out - and that these re the things that he can't do because of the relationship he has with his players.

So he knows that the only way we can move on and ounce back is without him.

Tragic as it is, the Coppell-Era (Reading FC's greatest ever) ends today.

i understand that all but surely it is this loyalty that has probably caused our demise this season that could bear to our success next season? I mean the team out there today would come close to walking the championship....IMO

Cookie Gary Johnson was interviewed for the job when Pardew left.

He would be my choice if a new manager is required and bristol city fail to get promoted

JM must do all he can to keep SC as manager taking some of the pressure off would help. Time to lose some of the backroom staff and get Parky in.

It will be a period of double mourning if Coppell leaves.

Agree with all the positive sentiment. Steve Coppell knows all about loyalty, is well respected and is the best man for the job...fishing around for another manager scares the hell out of me, we don't want another Burns or Bullivant.

Dont let the oxf*rd and the fair-weathers hound you out Steve, people who know football know how good you are and how good you can be.

Stay old boy, you know it makes sense.

Steve .. thanks for all you have done for us. You will go down in history as our finest manager ever. After a few years in the lower levels I hope that people will eventually appreciate all that you achieved.
Thanks for the memories . God bless you.

Can only echo, the thankfully large majority, who would like Steve to stay on. Sadly I believe we will hear that he has left the club sometime this week bringing to an end the greatest era RFC has ever had.

Not bad for a "gutless tosser"....

Where would we be without SSC AND JM? If you answer that honestly then we MUST keep the status quo and get on with next season.

To see RFC in the Premiership was a dream which SSC and JM made reality.

If SSC thinks he can do it again BRING IT ON.

SSC is the best we have ever had in my lifetime I hope he stays,

I would like Coppell to stay on for another year. The vast majority of fans will want him to honour his contract and I sincerely hope he does so.

If he walks then thanks for being a great manager, but surely the best option for him would be to stay, take us back up, then move upstairs as director of football, or summat.

I will be absolutely devastated if Sir Steve leaves Reading....

He is the only man that I want to see lead Reading into next season.

Steve Coppell can rebuild the team. Sir Alex has done it time after time at United.

Sir Steve can build his next great RFC side. Make your next Reading team even better than the last one Sir Steve. You know you can do it. Please stay and do it all over again.

SC's fault we went down.

That said without him we would never ever have been there. We got a bonus season in the Prem due to his talents last year and though he is culpable for the shower we've had to put up with recently, next term he is the only man I think capable of taking us back up. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't go.
