Yes obviously we boo people because of skin colour - nothing to do with them being absolute gob shite, no way!

While it would be incorrect there's obvious racism going on, I have often got the feeling that non-white players are seemingly subject to a lower threshold of tolerance to their flaws than others. How many white players have we had who have been described as "lazy" for example?

I'd suspect it more prejudice than racism. If you have it ingrained subconsciously that certain kinds of players are going to have certain flaws to their game or character*, then any hint of that player doing anything that conforms to that preconceived idea will allow a very quick judgement that the player fits the stereotype.

* and it's not just about race either. After the media's decision to label Stephen Hunt the "new Robbie Savage" it was clear that any foul he ever made would have opposition fans hailing it as proof that he really is a dirty, nasty piece of work, and believing it too.

Kebe had a good game today. One swallow doesn't make a summer (although it does round off a good date) so it'll take more performances like today's to convince people that he really has something. Mind you, he's not a typical winger. His strength today wasn't in beating players and getting crosses in, it was in intelligent play and picking players out (such as Hunt for today's second) in good positions with passing.

I'm not saying white players don't get stick. I'm just saying some people are quicker to pick fault with those they suspect won't display "English" qualities, because they have a preconceived idea that those players will have certain flaws. Consequently, it takes very little to persuade them that their "fears" about those players are true.

kebe = legend
Gives everyone a good laugh when he plays
I can only see him as an impact player from the bench
We need to bring i a new right midfielder as kebe and henry are not good enough for a first team place

[quote="Squelchy2507"]Definitely MOM today, by a long way IMO[/quote

No. He was very impressive, I agree, but MOTM was little Jem Karacan. He had a blinder and held the midfield together as if he'd been a regular for years.

I didn't Ivar getting such high praise and attention, it must be something against white defenders then.

When he turned shit last season, which seems a valid reason for "picking" on him.

Was at both the Didcot game & the MK Dons match yesterday and was very impressed with Kebe in both games. Easily MOTM against the Dons. Looked very good on the ball, could beat a man and had more than one trick with the ball at his feet. I was very impressed with his positional sense (held his run very well for the first goal) and the amount of times he got round the back of the full back. He also picked out Hunt with a very calm pull back for the second goal when others may of fizzed it in without looking.

He tracked back well and blocked a couple of crosses which hopefully shows he has the desire to work for the team (maybe not a lazy as some have suggested).

Appreciate that this was against lower league defenders, but I for one am looking forward to see him play against championship quality full backs, the same way as I'm looking forward to seeing Matejovsky against championship midfielders.

Despite the above, he did fall over the ball once or twice, but I will be willing to forgive if with the comedy comes some displays like yesterday.

Glad to hear some positives regarding Kebe's performances. I'll hold judgement until the real action kicks off though as he just looked so poor last season that I'll be amazed if he can give us anything more than something "a little different" every now and again when coming off the bench.

When has anyone ever said he's lazy though? :?

Last season he looked lost and incapable of taking up a defensive position and helping out his full back, but I don't think he ever looked unwilling or lazy, just out of place. Maybe he's learning the Reading way.

Was at the game yesterday and Kebe and Karacan were by far the stand out players. Kebe was able to beat men on the wings. His crossing sometimes left a lot to be desired, but Reading didn't really ever come out of first gear. In the opening 15 mins, he seemed to link up very well with Lita on the right. There was a couple of occassions where Lita had the ball on right and would play some excellent 1-2s with Kebe. His goal was very well taken, and as mentioned he kept his cool with the cross into Hunt's feet.

I have not been impressed with Henry whatsoever. It amazes me that so many people on here are putting so much confidence in someone who Norwich fans thought wasn't good enough for their bench! Blind faith in youth is not the way forward. You never win anything with kids.......

By all means give the kid a chance, but not just cause he's a product of our youth academy.

Don't worry about it, these do-gooders are playing the racist card - just ignore the pathetic people and chillax.

Apparently, we're scouting 1870s London for van Helsing.
