I would say it doesn't matter how many appearances they make - just the impact they made.

Which is why I would go for Jim Leighton because his performances kept us up and relaunched his career even though he was only on loan to us.

Would also have to include Super Trev, Gilksey, Deano (Horrix not Morgan), Shaka, Hicksy, Dariusz (Wdowczyk not Henderson) Dave Madman, Colin 'Nut Him' Bailie and little Stevie Rich

Uncle Andy Dariusz (Wdowczyk not Henderson)

Well, of course you meant Wdowcyzk! Henderson's first name does not have a "z" in it....

Barry Hunter for booting balls over the cross bar and out of the ground at Oxford...

Tony Rougier for this stellar 2nd half substitution at Cambridge...(he was taken off mere minutes after being brought on, for Kwik-Silva's benefit)

Michael Gilkes for his blistering pace...and hoofing it in to the Tilehurst End...

Martin Hicks, ditto Gilkes but from 50 yards...

Billy Whitehurst for squaring up to anyone that dared (when cajoled by the South Bank)

Shaka Hislop for being blind drunk in Utopia (R.I.P) after the Championship win against Brighton.

Jimmy Quinn for some spectacular strikes...(Plymouth, wasn't it?)

Steve Richardson for cries that only dogs and small children could hear.

The "Magnificent 7" that were anything but...

Dylan Kerr, m'lord.

Mass Sarr for his service to Jaffa Cakes.

Later day saints...

Curo, Butler, Caskey, Upson, Murty, Shorey, Sidwell, Little, Kitson.

I've missed a few, no doubt.

One final mention - the South Bank for uttering the immortal, never to be heard of since to the travelling Sunderland fans that dared to place a lady to close to the home end - "You've got a c*nt like a bucket..."

of course it depends on your era, and of course I am biased, but Robin Friday has had a book written about him by people not connected with RFC, so he is number 1.

Archie's penalty
Forbury Lion Top 10 in order, subject to change are:

1. Trevor Senior
2. Michael Gilkes
3. Adie Williams
4. Shaka Hislop
5. Phil Parkinson
6. Glen Little
7. Graeme Murty
8. Jamie Cureton
9. James Harper
10. Darren Caskey

I like (and agree with) all of them apart from Caskey.

Forster would be the one I'd replace Casks with.
To be honest I was struggling for a 10th, just put Caskey in for his legendary free kicks.

I loved Caskey when he was at Reading. I also loved the guy who had this on his shirt:

For me Trevor Senior is an absolute legend, the guy`s a god, completing a hat trick against Donny rovers I think, climbing the fence at the Tilehurst end and pumping his fist at the crowd in sheer joy-Legend :D . Also Phil Parkinson, when there was a pitch invasion at the Brighton game(end of 93/94 season), being a young whippersnapper I shot onto the pitch like a good `un. The big man came into view and I gave him the biggest man hug I could muster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gay or what?

Pre my time as a fan I have few:

Friday, Death, Senior & Maurice Evans

Since Ive been watching:

Parkinson, Murty, Harper, Kitson, Sidwell, Adie Williams, Shaka, Hahnemann, Gilkes, Wdowczyk & Little (just).

Many others I think were great, and I loved, but that doesn't automatically make them a legend.

Shorey would have been in there. But he's dissapointed me a lot recently. Hopefully if he stays he can win back his right to my hall of Reading Legends.

PS: I'm more than happy to be educated about more Legends pre '95. Possibles that spring to mind: Dixon, Webb, Sanchez, Bowman, Curle. I just don't know enough about their time here.

Close but no cigars:

Gooding, Ivar, Quinn, Archie, Curo, Fozzie, Skippy, Caskey, Butler, & Hughes.

Would like them to be Legends but weren't around long enough or good enough: Owusu & Meaker.

Infamous: Bodin, Holsgrove, Van der Kwaak, Sarr, Sheppard,Borislav Mikhailov, Savage, Brooker, Keith Jones and Ray Houghton.

Blackman (top scorer of all time), Death (amazing keeper - 5'7"), Friday (sublime + character), Senior (amazing scorer), Parkinson (true grit + running out), Murty (our most successful captain + loyal), Hahnemann (character + great keeper).

Too many spoils the broth.
