Thomas L'Heureux
Kieron1981 at least i know how to pronounce his name properly now :)

I'll continue to pronouce it as it's spelt, similar to who Bikey is still known to me as 'Bike-E' rather than 'Beakay'.

... says the person with one of the least-pronounceable names on here ...
Thomas L He-urry-ucks?

Jem Karacan Most of the squad are Turkish
Funny that, what with it being the Turkish national side.

Deadlock
Bill Oddie's Beard Nice bit on the OS about Jem. He's also exclusively revealed his name is pronounced Karajan...

Shame his first name isn't Herbert; he could claim the current Austrian €5 coins were all his...

Interesting thought - does all my money belong to the Queen ?

Hmmm!
Karacan is pronounced Karajan.
(von) Karajan is pronounced Karayan.
Confused? You will be ...

Obviosly doesn't take much to confuse you

Mind you, the Turks once occupied parts of Austria - perhaps they are related...

Always makes me laugh when people go on about funny foreigners with their difficult to pronounce names. English is one of the least phonetic languages in the world. Eg bough, cough, tough, though, through etc etc. How about Leicester, Loughborough.

BTW, I thought Jem was a bit lightweight whem he first came in but he is improving. Really hoping a few of the Academy lads establish themselves this year.

He's better than Cisse already and gets into some great positions. I think he would be class alongside Matejovsky tbh, defensive mid and an attacking mid.

At the Villa friendly when his name was announced I thought we'd signed Jamie Carragher as that's how the announcer pronounced it.

Automatic pick for me based on current form.

The pressure is definately on Harper, especially when Matejovski regains match fitness.

My choice for man of the match today which is saying something after some great performances by others. Given Coppell a welcome selection headache when Marek returns!

Except that Karacan's more an attacking player IMO.

Yes but he can make a tackle as well. Unlike Harper.

To be quite frank he weren't that great. He was caught out many times. Playing alongside Gunnarson didn't help. Alright he got into some good attacking and defensive posistions but there was not much else from him.

Agreed. I thought it was incredible we won 4-0 with that central midfield partnership. Jem's a good player, but still quite raw and with a tendency to give the ball away too much. And Gunnarsson was Gunnarsson, bless him...

By that you mean he won the ball a few times, set up some great attacks (including some great close play in the lead up to Shunt's goal), often defended very high up the pitch, got up in support of attacks, regularly got into the box, nearly scored.........

I take it that was what you were referring to??

In short, Bryn did everthing today that Harper doesn't. Aside from run around like a headless chicken and point a lot of course
