Archie's penalty
papereyes
UpNorth Has been snowing on the hills around Sheffield this morning but nothing in the centre. Little snow out towards Barnsley apparently so looking good for Saturday.

Its just wet here.

Which means the temperature goes up and hey presto! No freezing conditions :D

The effect of heavy rain droplets falling through the atmosphere can lower the temperature sufficiently to cause the rain drops to turn to snow.

There's also the fact that if it rains a lot - all the snow will melt and flow down onto the Oakwell pitch causing it to be called off :|

Oakwell's at the top of a fairly steep hill down to the river, so that shouldn't be a problem either.

Shouldn't this be on a Barnsley board?

If as some people have suggested Barnsley have under-soil heating then the game should be on regardless of it snowing. I had the pleasure of watching Burnley beat Arsenal and I can tell you Burnley was covered in the sort of snow that Reading can only dream about. If Burnley can cope with 18000 fans walking on icy roads then Barnsley should be able to cope with 10-13000 fans.

Very snowy and icy in Leeds but the roads are still gritted with buses and trains running like usual. In this day and age it takes levels of snow far greater than we ever get in the U.K. to stop access that much and the game will go ahead.

I work with a Barnsley season ticket holder. He confirms they have undersoil heating and says there is next to no chance of the game being postponed.
