Half-season player of the year

by Archie's penalty » 11 Dec 2008 11:19

Ok folks another poll here. I know it's not quite the middle of the season, but it will be after the Norwich game on Saturday so who's your vote for player of the year so far?

There's plenty of contenders including a striker who learnt how to score again, a winger who learnt how to cross, a bustling new left back, a goalkeeper still doing the business, a new striker with endless enthusiasm as well as many others.

So who will it be?

Doyle. Take him out and Reading would be about 13th.

Kebe has made a big difference. His absence from the team is noticeable.

Don't Cisse and Rosenior get a look in?

Only allowed 12 options. I will message Platy to see if he could add Cisse and Rosy in - maybe taking out Pearce and Karacan.

Alan Partridge Doyle. Take him out and Reading would be about 13th.

You appear to have a monopoly on common sense on the Team Board. After you've posted, there's rarely anything else to say.

+1 for Doyle.

I would have gone for Bikey up until a few games ago, but he seems to have lost his way somewhat, hopefully he'll be back to his best when he comes back into the team. Anyway, went for Doyle for obvious reasons, although special mentions for Armstrong who has filled the void left by Shorey admirably, Kebe for proving the doubters wrong, chipping in with plenty of assists despite apparently not having any end product and Cisse for being the most improved player.

Can't pm any of the moderators. So if any of you are reading can you put up Cisse and Rosy into the list of options?

Doyle but I have been impressed with the way that Armstrong has fitted into the side nicely

Tough one really... I suppose it has to be Doyle because of the amount of goals although half of those were in two games.

Marcus - has pulled off some great saves and I sam more than happy with the rest of his play

Rosenior - fullfilling his potential and is more than keen to get forward and has the pace to rely on for his defensive duties.

Bikey - assured, big strong, laid back...but far to casual sometimes

Ivar - maybe a bit slow nowadays but reads the game well and rarely has a 'bad game'

Armstrong - I admit I really knew nothing of him until he camne to us and was a bit sceptical after his first two games but I am over the moon with him and have more confidence in his positioning than I ever was with Shorey.

Kebe - Love him or hate him, he has the skill, he has the pace, is exciting when he gets the ball as you never know what you are going to get from him and has had more goal assists than anyone else than NHunt this season I think

Harps - Personally think he is great and does the job he is on the pitch to do...other obviously think differently.

Cisse - coming into form, hard, solid and scoring goals, I like

SHunt - you know what you get from Hunty -100% - crossing is better, dead ball is better, Mr team player.

NHunt - not too sure, scored goals so far, not convinced yet though.

Doyle - not only has he been scoring but also running his socks off in the two games we have been down to 10 --- edges it for me over Rosenior, Armstrong and Ivar.

Good thread, as when I looked back to think about who I would choose I actually realised a lot of players had done well and we have done really well this season, especially at home which is where I've seen all my games!

Doyle for me as he has been by far the most consistent player over the 22 league games.

Rosie, Kebe, Armstrong, Bikey, Cisse are all worth a shout but have all had slight dips in form, so Doyle just about edges it.

Doyle first, Armstrong a close second.

Nobody has been awful. The Harper knockers need to pay more attention to his runs, players he pulls out of position and all round team work.

A lot of players who have contributed lots to our position.

SHunt's and Kebe's assists have been crucial. Hahnemann's saves likewise. But it's just not really possible to look beyond Doyle.

Young player of the year so far: Karacan
Most improved: Cisse

Amended poll as requested - it's caused the Doyle votes to go to Cisse. I've enabled re-voting so you will have change your votes (which you might have wanted to do anyway)
