Hunts penalties are poor, everytime he steps up I think he'll miss... I think somebody like Roseinior should take it and just blast it, if keeper saves it, then at least there'll be no way he can catch it

I don't question Hunt's mental strength for penalty taking. He wouldn't be human, though, if he wasn't affected by the unseemly tussle with Long that he was subjected to before placing the ball. How was that allowed to happen? I'm convinced it was a factor.

Having just seen SHunt in my local Sainsbury's car park, I can confirm that his parking ability is on a par with his penalty taking. It took him six goes to get into the parking space and roughly the same number to get out.

Mick Gooding says the pen-taker is automatically the person who took it last and scored. So it should've been Hunt's.

Now he's missed someoe else should gave a go.

Winner stays on.

At least he got it in there and didn't miss.

I am no fan of Stephen Hunt but what on earth was Shane Long doing? How unprofessional was that?
Goal difference got us relegated last season so we need to take every possible chance-this is not some kickabout in a local park.
We do get more than our share of penalties so the taker is important and should be somebody who plays every game and (regrettably in some ways) S Hunt fits the bill.
If he misses or goes in January (I wish) then somebody else needs to step up to the plate but for now IMHO the little scruffbag should carry on taking them.

It just went in, just. The argument still stands.

Yep, i certainly did not have confidence in such a vital penalty take. Keeper got to it, just good fortune / pace allowed the ball to go in. Perhaps S Hunt needs to disguise himself more in the run up, change the height the ball travells at.

Anyone want to post his actual penalty record? I'll see what I can dig out, but I'm not sure how to find missed pens.

To be honest, I thought that the fact that the keeper guessed the right direction and was _still_ only able to brush his fingertips against the ball, touching it against the inside of the post, meant that it wasn't that bad a penalty.

I think if Stephen Hunt does a little bottom shuffle and dummy and then guides it gently into the left hand corner he could be an excellent penalty taker.

Nah, that's too easy to read, better off doing a good old traditional Irish Jig.
