Royal Rother I am a fan but I thought there were some weaknesses today. 2 or 3 times he stayed on his line when I thought he could have come.

And when Cisse was dispossessed leading to their goal Federici was on the edge of the area so back-peddled rapidly but ended up nowhere near central thus giving Phillips an obvious target.

Having said that his kicking is fantastic. Early days but I don't think I've ever seen another 'keeper with better distribution. That is going to be an very decent weapon in these next few weeks.


He was in no mans land for Bents chance towards the end too

He looks like a keeper who is going to stick to his line and pull off saves as opposed to dominate his area, but it was good to see him claim a few dangerous crosses which he failed to do against Norwich



Very harsh after a brilliant performance from everyone.

Problem with reading fans is they always want more.

Read the rest of what I've said, I said he did well and was much improved on previous performances

I don't expect the world of him, just pointing out an area where he was weak as well as praising his improved performance in other elements of his game

Whore Jackie It's going to be an interesting conundrum for Coppell over the next few weeks. On the one hand there's the solid yet passive, reliable shot-stopping Hahnemann. On the other, the wonderful attacking distribution, yet somewhat suspect positioning with Federici.

Personally, I'd go for Fed, his accuracy of kicking, negates our lack of a classic target hold-up striker, keeps the tempo of our play high and really adds a lethal attacking dimension. The only disappointment with Fed so far, is his lack of dominance and control over the area. It's always been Hahnemann's weakness, kind of ironic that both an American and Aussie should be so withdrawn.


I'd rather we pick the keeper that is going to be most likely to keep a clean sheet or make the saves to give us the best chance of conceeding less goals than go for a lesser keeper to help cover for a lack of ability to win the ball upfront from a punt upfield!

Watching the game again today, I have to say that was a cracking save Federici pulled off to deny Birmingham a 2nd goal, right in the top corner.

Thought hes was Brillaint at Brum yesterday , and has really proved himself so if he keeps this up i wouldnt mind keeping him in goal.

Experience breeds confidence. Playing in form and kepping the confidence and confidence in his back 4 will support Federici in aiming for regular first team.

I liked the way the ball seemed to stick on his hands today - there were a few corners, some crosses and the long-distance Philips shot in the first half. All of them stuck in his hands nicely. He looks good and worth a run now. There is no hurry for Hahnemann to get fit: he can gradually get better for some bench-warming duties.

From what I saw yesterday, yes. He wasn't easily flustered, caught a lot of balls under pressure and made a great save from Phillips.

And his distribution is just brilliant.

His distribution is top notch and often an overlooked attribute in a GK.

Still, as good as Fed has been playing - USA is a Premiership class GK and has to start every game he is fit for.

imo Fed is an excellent second choice goal keeper who will without doubt be the ready made replacement for USA.

He's waited patiently with a professional attitude and I he'll prove himself as our long term replacement for the excellent but aging USA.

USA will regain his place when fit but Fed will prove his worth to us over the next month and replace USA in time.

I thought he was solid - for the goal, more issue with the lack of communication as the defence backed off. The only striker on the pitch capable of doing that should have been closed down far quicker.

Distribution was fantastic and something I actually really enjoyed watching.

Handling was solid - no mistakes - and when called into making a save, he made it well.

The only way he is going to improve is with games and this is a chance to see if he has the mental attributes to back up his talent.

But if he can pull it off, it's great news.

Not like we need worry about scoring goals either. We've failed to score precisely 4 times out of 27 this season.

We've scored at least twice in 18 out of 27 too. 2 goals is usually enough to get a draw at least.

He deserves his chance. Looked good yesterday and really has a chance to make the spot his own in a confident and winning side.
Its a good time for him to have a chance like this.

Possibly the best time, if the defence are settled and the attackers producing then its a chance to learn his game in games where mistakes are going to be less costly in the grand scheme of things.

I'd rather he got it now then thrown in at the deep end at a later date when our defence or our attack are struggling.

I'd say that Marcus has proven he can pull off top draw reflex saves time and time again. He might not be as agile as Federici these days but he's still got the ability to make those kind of saves.

I have to give credit to Federici, who've I've said I don't think is good enough for the level we are/want to be at, as he looked very assured on Saturday and did everything that was asked of him.

I'm still some way off being convinced by him, but if teams fail to put our goal under threat there isn't a lot more he can do to change my opinion at the moment.

It had zero power on it at a very saveable height.

Federici has done nothing wrong as yet, he's had 2 quiet games and as others have said is distribution really is superb.

But Hahnemann would have certainly saved that.

Further evidence that you are not a keeper! Just where should he have been positioned, given the state of play immediately prior to the incident?! I think you'll find most other keepers would have been in a very similar position.
