Great news.
Mooney can get up to speed after his injury and come back raring to go, whilst Long warms the bench for him!

That's really poor.

Long may have made some vital contributions over the years, but overall he's been an average, bit-part player. Using one example where a player saved us doesn't win the argument.

He's played reasonably well recently. Cut him some slack.

Is it Shane's fault that Coppell picks him? What has just dawned on me is that I do not see the purpose of a reserve side. With so many players going out on loan that must suggest that reserve team football is not competitively up to the mark. I see two options:
1. Scrap the reserves
2. Get the "reserves" to play more competitively.
Or is it a case that it is all too easy for your journeyman pro to pick up the x grand a week for nothing more than getting splinters from sitting on a bench?

I have been giving him the benifit of the doubt for a while now but now i have given up with him, he is a headless chicken and was woeful yesterday just like he was at soton and the only thing he has done all season is use his head twice to score two goals. if this guy is our number 3 striker then we have problems and id be in disbelief if any royals disagree with me! this is now his fourth season with us and its taken until now for me and other people to realise how average/poor he is. harper gets slated on here week in week out whilst players who deserve to get slated get away with it. I hope now people can see Harps warrants a place in our team whilst Mr LOLong doesnt!

Mooney, meanwhile, was a target for Jim Gannon when he was in charge at Dundalk.

The County chief was also interested in bringing the 24-year-old to Edgeley Park in the summer but he elected instead to join the Royals from Cork City in a £100,000 deal.

This season the former Shamrock Rovers and Longford star has made two League Cup substitute appearances for Reading.

Threlfall has been allocated number 5 whilst Mooney will wear 22 during their 28-day loan stint in SK3.

Hmm maybe I will go and watch him play as I live in Manc. Any other Manc Royals fancy going along?

Really?
Surely playing for a lower league club would make him even worse?
Or possibly not.

Did Mooney play yesterday?
I've forgotten about the FA Cup already

One huge problem with the reserves is the number of games. We've only played 6 reserve games this season, for example, and some of them have been against part-time teams.

True, one of the games Mooney did well in was against Lewes, which we easily beat 10-1. Not good enough to test.
