"I think if our aim is to go to Reading and get something, then to have all my team play 90 minutes ahead of playing the most dynamic team in the league - and arguably the best team in the league - would be folly on my part.

"We still tried to win the game. We had three strikers on trying to win the game because we didn't want a replay. But it was not to be.

"We will now play a league game instead of a cup game and that's it. It's all about the league now and we are in a good position."

Big Ern Reading 0 - 2 Wolves

We have not been playing well the past few games and I think Wolves will be too good for us.

...Wolves have hardly been ripping up trees (3pts from the past 4 games).

Wolves last six away in league

2-1 Saints (1-1)
3-1 Sheffield Utd (2-0)
0-1 QPR
1-0 Doncaster
2-2 Blackpool
2-2 Bristol (4-1)

W3 D2 L1 10-7

Looking at "same teams played" Wolves WWD 7-4, Reading WWD 7-2

Last 6 league at home

2-0 Blackpool (1-0)
1-1 Birmingham
3-0 Derby (3-0)
2-0 Barnsley
1-1 Sheffield Utd
1-3 Preston

W3 D2 L1 10-5

Looking at "same teams played" Wolves WW 5-0, Reading WW 4-0

WWWWD 12-4 Wolves
WWWWD 11-2 Reading

If we can play at our best or 98%-99% we should just about win, with home advantage,
but they (Wolves) know how important it is. A win for them makes them 8 points clear
and the GD gap closing, but they can "afford to lose."

A win for us gets us to within two points, very nice, a real, long-haul chance of winning the league,
but IMO we'll be very worried about losing. I fancy a lot of nervous players out there, more on our
side than theirs. Skills-wise, players-wise, current for-wise there's not a lot in it

It might come down to mentality. Will Coppell play a more defensive game or stick to the standard plan?

there will be goals 3-2- a thriller

or it will be a tight and nervy 1-0

probably the latter

actually-we're usually shit when we have a bit of a break
we're a rythym side.

Thats Mick McCarthy's attempt on psyching out ! Trying to take pressure of the league leaders and put it onto us Having said that Coppell did say on BBRB on Friday that beating Wolves on Tuesday would be a "huge feather in our cap"??? - Coppell is either playing the press rheoretic or he's getting soft -- not sure which! We've already p*ssed on their bonfire at Molyneux, so to say that for the home fixture must be a mind game thing

The absence of Rosenior could play a big part in Coppells approach to this game and I expect him to be cautious. If Kelly plays, Gunnarsson could come in tucked in on the right in place of Kebe to double up on the Wolves threat from that side.Coppell likes balance in his teams so a similar set up on the left. This will force the team to play longer than ever, so Doyle and whoever else will have to be ready to work those channels.
A crap game then, quite possibly to be decided by a set piece.

On the Wolves boards sounds like they'd be happy for a point.

Moira Stewart They destroyed us at home and if they play to that level again I fancy they will do the same on Tuesday.

Reading 3 - 0 Wolves

Uncle Festa If Reading perform as they did at our place when we were chasing shadows for 85 minutes then we are in for a 2 or 3 nill defeat.

Hatch End Wolf 1-1, that'll do nicely.

Agreed.

What is odd is Coppell going public on "playing Kelly"

Why do that unless it's a smoke-screen? He could've told the boy privately

I have to admit, I fancy a ridiculous best of seven game or something tedious where neither side takes a risk... Hunt?

Har-Har fame at last. I once wrote about another team being animals
on the ~Newport County site, was quoted in their programme,
and banned from the game at their ground and had to wear a disguise.

Was p!ssed at the game (we were already promoted). Thought we'd won 3-2 but we'd drawn 3-3!

Touch nervous then Snowball? Eh,when RFC need to beat the Wanderers they always turn up. Remember when we had to beat Magoos charges to stay up? Full house (Elm Park admittedly). But what a game and what an atmosphere. Bring it on.

There's no room for fear on Tuesday pal. Don't forget our passion translates itself to the pitch.

As a fan, if you're feeling nervous, there's always Eastenders.

Except either play off game, or at their place in the 90s (I think).

We've got a decent record against Wolves in the last 20 years, though not so wonderful at home in the last 10.

The last time I went to a Reading vs Wolves game Parky scored. So I'm hoping my luck holds and we give them a beating. But I'm not expecting to see a win either.
