strap Such a shame. Great season 05-06, and for that he will always have a place in the RFC "good egg" pile.

Best of luck for the future.

Well said.

All the best, Bobby, and thanks for a host of great memories.

For me Convey was one of the main catalysts for our record breaking 05/06 season and having just watched his goals in that season again especially the first against Milwall it is not hard to see what a good player he was and the part he played in our success.
The best word to sum Convey up I think is ENIGMA. One remembers his first season and " Waste of money(£900,000) comes to mind".
I think his first start was away to Plymouth the previous season and he was terrible substituted at half time if I remember correctly.
And really he did very very little after 05/06. All up he only made 72 starts and half of those must have been in 05/06 so that does not leave very many games fo the other 3and a half seasons.
Still best of luck for the rest of your career Bobby you will always be remebered as part of the 05/06 invincibles.

Best of luck for the future Bobby. Hopefully your confidence will come back to you and you can realise your ambitions in America. Always a pleasant soul, never complaining, blighted by injuries but shone on occasion.

The correct goal tribute has been posted here already.

This is sad news. Very best of luck Bobby. Quality player who obviously wants to play.

Bobby goes down in our history. What he did in our champ season he can be proud of for the rest of his life. Many thanks and best of luck, mate.

Bobby at times was near world class for Reading.

The fickle fans that dismiss him know very little, i just wish bobby had a decent knee.

Another great Convey goal.
Shame to see him go, but it never really worked out for him - except during the season when everyone played at their best.

SCIAG At his best, he was a more talented player than Hunt will ever be. I don't know what's happened, he was never as good after the world cup but he wasn't so bad he had to be released.

At his best he was very good, but his injuries have taken their toll and he seems to have struggled living over here anyway. Now it seems all concerned have agreed he isnt going to get back to the fitness levels he needs to make it he can go home to the US and get on with his life and career at a more comfortable level

SCIAG Now he has a few months of sitting around, maybe a few trials. Surely it would be better for both parties if he agreed to a significant wage cut and played reserve football for six months, covering for Hunt if need be?

Good luck Bobby- please, don't get stuck in a reserve side like Shorey, Sonko, Kitson and Little, make a career for yourself!

It sounds like he has sorted himself out a deal already in the MLS, there was no point keeping him when he just wasnt up to it anymore. Shame, but thats the reality. At least he isnt a horse and is now on the way to the glue factory

SCIAG The Millwall goal made me realise that we could go up. For that, Mr Convey is a legend.

But gutted his career has been ruined and he was a big big part of our best ever team so he should always be well regarded

Son of Len I suppose I need to get tix to the Earthquakes visit to Giants Stadium in May although I don't really care for the Red Bulls. But I can wear my hoops and cheer for Bobby!

You sad sod.

See you there!

It's weird but I feel sad about this one as well.

Good luck Bobster over in the States. We'll miss you!

Yes but Booby was a bit part player for a long time. His last showing was steady but ineffective. Not bashing him up but he became more lightweight after his injuries. I had hoped he would make more impact after coming back but not to be. Sadly.

I always hoped he would regain the form of 05/06. Maybe he will, but it is a shame he won't be doing it for us. Farewell Bobby.

Farewell Bobby. Hope you enjoy the rest of your career.

As said before, that Millwall goal will stay long in the memory of most Reading fans.

Part of the record-breaking team and no-one can take that away from him.

Yep. I think that was the moment when I first thought "you know, I think we could be something special this year"
