I know i'm going to get shot down in flames for saying this, but i wouldn't mind seeing Roy Keane in charge. I can't see it ever happening mind.

Yep, but Swansea have come up two divisions in the time it's taken Coppell to move us up one place in the Championship. Let's see how he'd do with our resources you moron.
Please dont insult me "Royalee" , calling me a moron is bang out of order,

Back to post

Martinez will be found out very early next season when they have lost one or two of the "stars".

Swansea have dropped their guard since their famous FA Cup exploits and in no way shape or form will survive the play-offs (should they qualify).

Next season they will be fighting for survival, a battle that they may well lose although the cheating spaniard will have long since been sacked.

.

You insult my intelligence every time you post.

As for Martinez being found out, wasn't that what happened to Coppell last season? What evidence do you base this on anyway? Your jealousy at the 'cheating Spaniard' being able to coach a team properly to play attractive football with limited resources? Finishing mid-table with Swansea is an excellent achievement given they were in League 2 not that long ago, although I can't see them having to fight for survival next season given Martinez's history of steady progress.

I'd rather give a chance to a young hungry manager who's thus far built exciting successful teams playing quality football rather than someone who has a proven track record for failure in the big league.

Royalee I'd rather give a chance to a young hungry manager who's thus far built exciting successful teams playing quality football rather than someone who has a proven track record for failure in the big league.

Before Martinez got on television and, at the time, Sam Allardyce being unemployed, your choice for replacing Coppell was Allardyce - the only manager to manage a team to get beat by Derby County in their record breaking relegation season. Given this rather shaky eye for a managerial replacement, if you have your eye on Martinez then that itself is reason to doubt him. Whatsmore, Allardyce is neither young nor hungry, nor has built successful teams and has no proven track record in the big league (certainly as compared to Coppell) - so why the sudden and complete change in necessary credentials? This would appear to be the case of coming up with the credentials after coming up with the replacement. But Martinez and Allardyce do have something in common - at the time, they were both the obvious choice for approval by those with only a limited knowledge of managerial candidates i.e. they were the 'Easy Option'.

Be fair. He did accurately point out what a better manager Paul Jewell was than Coppell, and how much better Derby would do than us this season.

There was a young man called McGhee
Took Royals to the top of the tree
Although next year he left
We weren`t quite bereft
Until that sad miss by Archie.

I've maintained for a long time that Coppell will leave at the end of the season, whatever position we find ourselves in, so I don't really think this debate is necessary at the moment. Any new manager at that time will obviously depend on where we find ourselves playing next season.

Having said that, the one I'd like to see take over is Andy Scott from Brentford. Doing a good job with limited resources. The one I suspect would be JM's favourite is Eamonn Dolan. I really hope it's not Kevin and Wally - KD didn't exactly cover himself in glory when Pardew left.

Someone else who might be worth keeping an eye on is Eddie Howe, who's turned Bournemouth around under very trying circumstances, although he's still a bit too inexperienced at the moment (and would be a definite non-starter if we were to get promoted).

Surprised no-one's mentioned Di Matteo yet. Or is anything to do with MKDons still too tainted to be considered?

I think what has happened since Christmas - again! - will mean that regardless of what happens, Coppell will not renew his contract at the end of the season, and will then go out of football for a Year or so.

IF we go up (which is looking less likely after each game) then a "big" name manager would probably come in; if we don't go up, then it will be someone less high profile. Assume its the latter, then we as fans will have to show a lot of patience as the new guy basically re-builds the team; DO NOT EXPECT instant success, cos you will simply rave and rant at regular intervals.

Whatever happens for the rest of this season, there will be wholesale changes at RFC in the Summer of 2009, and not just the playing staff.

Agree that regardless of what happens come the end of the season Coppell will walk away and like Skyline have thought that all season.

The process of rebuilding has already begun and therefore for me not gaining promotion this season isn 't quite the disaster and disgrace that some seem to believe.

As for a possible replacement, I like O'Driscoll at Donny. Another quiet and unassuming manager in the Coppell mould but with a particular penchant for good passing football and a track record for bringing through younger players of which we have a promising crop currently out on loan.
