I used to live in a house which overlooked The Cliff, Manchester United'd old training ground in Salford. When McGee was the manager, we would train there when playing up north so I was able to watch training games from my bathroom.

I used to live in Liverpool Road in Watford. Literally the back garden led onto the road the main stand (old crappy one) is located and the door in the fence was almost immediately opposite the Watford Supporters Club.

So, my shortest trip would have been approximately 20 ft.

Once the east stand was just a touch quieter than it normally is and I fell asleep in Y23. I woke up the next home game to the away fans singing so had to travel zero miles.

Used to live in Westbourne court when I was a wee lad, 30 seconds walk.

Away at Fulham or Chelsea. both within a mile. Walk to QPR as well.

Ark Royal Might just have that beat. 11 Rutland Road and prior to that 25 Prince of Wales Avenue.

Blimey - I used to live there in about 1990! Was Mo still the landlord when you were there?

I think I'm on to a winner here, though - 196 Tilehurst Road. There was a hole in the fence in the back garden from which I could see most of the pitch, but the walk round to the South Bank turnstiles took only a few seconds.

Ark Royal
poohs pure
Thaumagurist* I once lived somewhere just off Oxford Road in the summer of 1997, it was just a simple walk down to Elm Park. That was the closest and shortest trip I've ever taken.

78 Waverley Road. Left out of gate, down the road, left, hang a right into TE turnstile. 3 minutes at most. Beauty of being sent to live with your dear old nan as your parents have had enough of your bad behaviour.

Sorry to top you Ark but for a while my brother lived in digs in the house next to the away end entrance and he later moved to no.4 Rutland Road.
The surveyor for that property pointed out that the house was very close to the football ground-to this day my brother couldn't see that in some eyes would be a minus and not a plus feature.

20 yards from barrack room to football pitch, to watch a scratch RFC team play against the garrison team (Osnabruck, early 1980's) for a pre season friendly.

Maguire
leyton royal I think it is a fascinating subject and offer up http://bit.ly/89ydf this, my shortest ever trip to a Reading game.

hello btw.

Some friends of mine live about 50yds from you - in Dawlish Road, right next to the park

Have moved to Cav. now (the lower, nicer end...) Leyton was a goodish place to live for a while.

For me it was probably the time I had a beer in the Royals Rendezvous and then made my way to the Southbank.

When I was in Winchester, the Southampton game was pretty convenient.

0.1 miles - twice.

Once to run the line - Basingstoke vs Reading - pre season friendly and one to watch a few years later.

Now i've moved to 'ding, this is the shortest distance. Good to crash out after instead of facing the 70 mile journey home.

I used to live in the air shelter under the centre circle at Elm Park. Open the trap door and voila.

Off the coach at any away game...less than a couple of hundred yards to the turnstiles, well apart from at Newcastle, where you had to walk miles up into the sky!
