Dirk Gently I can't help but feel that going tonight will be like the final visit to an elderly and much-loved relative who's on their deathbed - as Sheffield United clinically put our lingering hopes of automatic promotion finally out of their misery.....

..... but I'll be there none-the-less. You have to experience the bad times to be able to appreciate the good times. A football team is for life, not just when the going's good.

Otherwise, you might as well bugger off and be an armchair TV supporter of one of the Big 4.

'greed with everything said there.

Thames LOL @ you idiots getting wound up about people not going.

Football is a form of entertainment. I have not been entertained since Christmas (apart from Federici's goal) therefore I cannot be arsed to watch 4-5-1, no shots on target football.

Yes, but entertainment isn't the be all and end all. If it was, we'd all just support Barcelona. This is one of those occasions where the family pulls together and gets through a thin patch. Those of us who do so will be stronger for it.

LOL@ family. 90% of you are idiots.

Fair description of most families TBF

Im definately going

I would go if we had lost 10 on the bounce aswell...

Our bad run has added a bit more excitement going into the last few games IMO
But if we lose today it wont be excitement i have to say

Yes i am as disappointed as every other fan about our recent bad form but not turning upto the game isnt going to help much either

Jobbo no.11 Seriously what is going on with our club when the team are sat in fourth place pushing for promotion, with a massive game on a bank holiday and half our fans can even be arsed to turn up.
I wont be there on Friday due to being in Newcastle but will only the third home game ive missed all season, and im not even a season ticket holder.
Come on people go along give the boys the best backing of the season and watch what is the most important game of the season.
BELIEVE!!!!

I take it you didn't go to Crystal Palace and I take it you didn't go to Coventry

There is a difference supporting your team when they are clearly sub standard or lacking technique - then you keep watching regardless (IMO)
But when there is not an ounce of self belief and not an iota of passion, I think you can be forgiven for giving it a miss and you certainly can be forgiven for no longer believing
Having said that I'm going today - just don't know why

We're about to leave for the game now - don't know why either! Driving on soaking wet motorways with Bank Holiday traffic when we could just stay and watch it on the TV. Not at all looking forward to the game really, thanks to the dire football Coppell and his players have inflicted on us over the past few months!

i wont be going as i have to work late

got to say after spending a shed load of money going to coventry ive never felt that low afterwards. I cant decide if its just being spoilt after the last few years or its just me coming to terms with a loathing of the modern game

But every game is different - such is the unpredictable nature of the game. The ref only has to give a decision in our favour and we could go 1 - 0 up, 2 - 0 up. From our current form it seems hard to believe, I know.........but 'where reason can not wander, there faith can freely swim.' The true value of our support is not how well we support the club during the good times but its during the bad times, as well. I will probably recant all I said later ! :D

Wolves one up inside 40 seconds.

Reading's first effort at goal is estimated at around 65 minutes.

Southampton look pants. Wolves could rout them if they really go for it.

I was at palace, and at coventry, you can also add QPR, swansea, plymouth and sheffield since the new year. Not quite sure what that proves but there you go. ALl i want is for our team to be supported well and i did not mean to course offense in any way by the original post.

I'm in a TV studio filming a new gameshow so thought I'd miss the game, but they have managed to get a monitor to feed the game in live whilst I'm working. Result.

No offence taken, but I am even more amazed (and impressed!) at your level of belief having witnessed those performances!

By the way, do you still believe following yesterday's performance?

I believe I'm right in saying that 1500 Reading fans were at Coventry last week.

I was one of those 1500.

Therefore, I assume all those slagging me off for taking the easy option of watching Sheff U on SKY were also at Coventry. If not, I've made more of an effort to watch my team in the last 2 weeks than you, unless you live miles from Reading.

For the record, I missed Liverpool at home last season but was at Portsmouth when we conceded 8. In the last 2 years, I've caught a plane to watch RFC on four occasions.

As an away season ticket holder since the schemes inception until the end off last season, I've been to countless games knowing that we'd probably lose.

However, until Steve Coppell leaves, if I can watch a match on TV I will not be bothering going to the ground and that includes any potential play offs.

This has nothing to do with supporting through good and bad times (I'm happy to do both) but everything to do with finding it increasingly difficult to watch my team being needlessly driven into the ground by a manager who has run out of ideas and has been taking us backwards for the last 2 seasons.
