High point of the season

by Archie's penalty » 20 Apr 2009 11:31

So in a season of contrasts what has been your highpoint of the season?

For me:

Doyle hat-trick over Crystal Palace - the man was back.
Sheffield Wednesday away goal celebrations.
Beating Wolves away three-zip.
Cisse's goal against Brum.
Wednesday at home - Karacan running 60 yards to celebrate with Nhunt.

bristol city away - best away support of the season by a country mile
wolves and brum away - both quality results
cardiff away - real battling performance with 10men and the away support were great, i would go as far as saying this was the best battling performance of the season even though we only got a point

LOWS of the season:

Ipswich away - just dire
southampton and coventry - just away matches you didn't want to be at with a shoddy away day plastic backing
anytime after wolves at home when it all went very pete tong!

3. Didn't go to the Wolves away, but the boy texting the scores as the goals went in was more enjoyable than about 80% of the rest of the season.

2. Bristol City away.

1. 0-1 down at home to Cardiff. All those for whom getting the bus/back to their car 5 minutes early is paramount have left the stadium. Fed goes up for an injury-time corner. Your Footballing Expert Correspondent says "why do goalies bother going up for corners? They only get in the way." Cue 3 minutes of bedlam including a hilarious attempt at a riot by the knuckle-draggers amongst the Cardiff fans, egged on by Doobs and Rosey's wind-ups. It's what football's all about.

Games I've been to:

Watford home
Derby home

Games I've seen on TV:

Birmingham away

Other Games:
Wolves away
Sheff Wednesday Home
Brizzle away
Sheff Utd away

And Finally:
The development of the youth players
Doyle's hat-tricks
Competing for automatic promotion for most of the season
Finishing top 10 (hopefully top 6)

Sheff Utd away.

A day I will personally never forget. I had £5 on Reading to win 2-0, with Cisse to score the first goal at 150/1! Lovely jubbly.

However, on the way back we crashed on the M1 and came flying off the motorway backwards and into a ditch! Luckily, everyone involved was injury free. Hours later, I made my first (and hopefully my last) visit to Rugby, whilst waiting for good old Dad to come to the rescue!

Bristol City away was good too. Although I had to spend the whole game sitting on my hands, as my mate and I could only manage to get tickets in the home end! I couldn't resist jumping out of my seat for Cisse's goal, although I quickly had to turn my shouts of joy to "ooooooh........ sh*t, come on City sort it out!"

I just hope there are more high points to come.

My precise words were "Fuck this, I need to go to the bathroom. Oh wait, A Fed's gone up. This should be funny".

archie's penalty 2. Sheffield Wednesday away goal celebrations.

And the stuff afterwards. I thought we'd turn it around after that - the side showed more character and belief than I'd previously seen all season.

3. Watford goal, away

I repeat:

I agree with that, great night and at the time I was convinced it would be the catalyst.

Cardiff away both league and cup. Mainly because of the crowd support
Sheffield Wednesday away - The sheer mad goal celebrations.
Doncaster away for the crowd participation and to an extent Kitsons goal.
Barnsley away for personal reasons. Fecked my day up despite the grinding win.
Wolves away was fantastic and convincing.

Low points:
Screwing up how many occasions to close the gap on Wolves / Brum
Notts Forest away - a potent that we need to battle to get results (how true)
Coventry was just boring as hell.
Shunt and Long fighting over the penalty take after Long was bought down. Shunt stuffed it.

Naturally the games after Wolves at home
