As I've said on another thread I just don't get Ivar's popularity as a supposed captain. I'd have rated Ivar better than Duberry two years ago, but his powers are seriously on the decline. If we can remodel the team in such a way as to prevent Duberry trying to pass then IMO he's the better defender. As a back up I'd rather have him.

Remind me, how have Reading done without a calm assured Icelandic presence at the back?

Defensively? Pretty much the same. Or are you going to blame our scoring woes on a player with 1 goal in 29 appearances this season not playing? One of the two centrebacks who played in our heaviest defeat of the season so far.

There is somethng to be said for the arguement that we dont create as many chances because we rarely keep the ball after our back four just welly it forward all the time instead of passing it into the midfield

I think the problems are a lot deeper rooted than that, but Ivar at least tried to get us to start with the ball instead of Doobs who, for all his defensive qualities, seems to want to give it back to the opposition as quickly as possible

Could easily be argued that this happens because of the lack of movement and useful positions taken up by the midfield or attack.

I think people are re-writing history because Ivar is an old favourite and hasn't been in the team to be contributing to the piss poor string of results recently.

Darren ferguson please, although it's unlikely him, Coyle or Martinez will not leave their clubs so out of those O'Driscoll and Rodger seem the more realistic options.

Rodgers sounds pretty unlikely to leave Watford as well. Given what he's done so far he could become an instant legend there by taking them straight back up. Quite possible.

I quite like the Scunny manager, Atkins is it? Has done a terrific job with them, bearing in mind he was only a physio before taking the job and leading them to the Championship.

Our options are pretty limited. So many over optimistic fans on here thinking we'll get a big ish name, and turning their noses up at the likes of Boothroyd.

You're aching for more disappointment this summer.
