PFA Divisional Awards

by Dirk Gently » 25 Apr 2009 22:06

The PFA Awards are announced tonight, including the Divisional teams.

Do you reckon we'll have any players in the "Championship Team" awards?

Bear in mind that these were voted for in around February, before we turned really dismal!

My thoughts are that Stretch, Marcus and Doyler might be in with a shout

AlexY25 Doyle and Shunt probably.

They might get into the "over-rated" team I suppose................................

A lot of pundits etc. always refer to them being our best players. I could only see them being in the team really. I don't think either should. I think Ebanks Blake and Scotland will ahead of Doyle. Shunt shouldn't even make the reserve team.

They would be our best players if they could give a rat's arse about playing for us.

Front two will be Doyle and Fat-Arse Blake - top scorers in the League at the end of Jan IIRC

Don't think Marcus will be 'keeper - probably Maik Taylor.

Stretch is a good shout.

Other than that no-one else.

Is this a veiled "look at me, I'll be at the award ceremony" from you, Mr Gently?

So veiled that I certainly wasn't going to mention it!

Irrelevant, though, as thanks to Sky TV and the Norwich match being moved to Monday none of our players will be there getting pissed just 20 hours before the game. (I Hope!)

LOL. We played 10x better with Harding in the team. Amazing what happens when we have a LB who doesn't just lump it.

Doyle, Shunt, Harper, maybe even Ivar and Rosenior. This isnt my opinion on the best XI in the league, just how the way voting usuallly goes on things like these.

Stretch won't get in. That'll be Fox's position.

I reckon we'll be represented by S Hunt (possibly, although Jarvis is a contender) and Doyle. Possibly Rosey as well, but Naughton or Folan might pip him.

Harding played well, but I don't think Stretch lumps it that often. We are certainly very blessed in that position at the moment; the worry is that Keane might want Harding back at Ipswitch.

We will have a set fee which we can buy him for I'd have thought.

I don't think Marcus will, because he was injured for a couple of weeks and missed quite a few games.

You have to wonder how they make these decisions.

Stephen Hunt – Reading
Everton, Middlesbrough and Wigan were all reported to be showing an interest in Republic of Ireland international Stephen in the January transfer window, but the Reading fans’ favourite delighted those who admire him for his ability and total commitment by putting pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him a Royal until 2012.

absolutely no one included from Brum- just shows how bad this division has been that a team going for auto promotion doesnt enough consistent performers. As for Hunt in the PFA team pahhhh, before xmas i would have said he stood a fair chance but after the New Year not a chance in a million years.
