I suspect there was the usual distorted perspective.

We had a roof so sounded loud at our end, but whether that noice ever escaped into the rest of the ground may be a different matter.

I was sat nearer the front and Burnely were singing before they scored, at times all 3 sides were going at once. However it was fairly sporadic and certainly not the spine tingling atmosphere I had expected.

Basically they were much like us, and we are much like most other crowds. We beat ourselves up too much most of th etime and then when we have a good day we over estimate how much noise we make.

i had alift from a copper back to teh minibus at half time, and had to sit and wait for ten minutes for an escort back to the ground and listened in on burnley FM

they were slatuing us something rotten about not being able to sell our allocation for a playoff semi at 5.20 in the evening
and for the silence of our fans throughout the game

they actually laughed out loud when they heard us singing "shall we sing a song for you" and called it criminally ironic

Fell the need to respond to this one.

Firstly the away fans are in the best stand acoustically for making noise, that said I honestly didn't hear much of you during the game.

Our atmosphere was sporadic (Until the 84th minute), but as the players have a duty to lift the crowd, we were so poor at times in the first half that you could almost cut the tension in the stands with a knife.

As for the comments about the Burnley fans after the game - do you honestly think it would be any different tomorrow night if you turn this around? Or will it be handshakes and "I say, you chaps were mightly unlucky, good luck for next year" or will it be the usual Ha ha's?

I also didn't see a bit of troublw in the town centre after the game (Not saying there wasn't any just that I didn't see any)

WTF was that "swine flu" song all about?

A reference to the OB or something more embarrassing?

I have to disagree with braindead. I was embarrassed that we didn't sell out the away end for a play-off game on a Saturday. However from where I was, the fans who did turn up couldn't have made any more effort to make themselves heard. I was at the back, maybe down at the front people were being more reserved and quiet, that can happen with unreserved seating. However I'd still say that's the best away atmosphere I've been to (granted I've only been to 8 away games including Saturday). If the Burnley fans couldn't hear us, what more were we meant to do?

They heard us.
All home fans pretend they dont hear the away fans.
We'll probably be saying the same thing in a day's time.

I thought the Only Fools & Horses theme tune singalong was the best chant.

Whoever threw that bottle of coke onto the pitch after the penalty was awarded should be banned for the rest of their natural life.

I mean, who drinks coke at a football match

hughsies no.1 burnley fans were a bunch of w*nkers, the fella in the corner at the end with his two little asbo kids was unbelievable and a steward just stood and starred at him whilst he was goading us.

That was one of the highlights of the day for me - "sign on, sign on..."

I was right up at the back and the atmosphere up there was electric. Although I often find that when you get unreserved seating the atmosphere can seem a lot more intense inside than outside. A Burnley friend commented that he couldn't really hear us and I've heard the same from people who watched on TV. Probably a bit like Doncaster and Wigan last year, really good a loud if you're in the heart of it but not that much noise when put in context
