Great legend , but the best ones are those that go or are let go before they decline. The club must have a very good idea if Murts, can come back fully fit, on radio several times Murts even said himself, it seemed to be one problem after another.

I am amazed at the call to give him a role within the club, I have never heard Murts say he is quitting the game, so why would this be an option? Is he even intending to do his coaching badge, or would he prefer the media career that he has worked on for BBC and SKY?

Great guy and will always be welcomed back, but time to go with heartfull thanks.

I'll just add my +1 to all the positive sentiments expressed here. He always came across as quite unlike the modern professional footballer, not flash, genuinely humble and the sort of person you'd gladly have a pint or four with. I'll certainly miss him - and marcus.

Wimb +1 to all of the above

Oh and thanks for replacing Andy Gurney ;)

I could not agree more. Good luck being a mediocre pundit on Sky. Nice guy tho and gave his all.

Murts epitomises the spirit of the 106 season and the one that followed. It's no surprise that the fewer games he's played the fewer we've won. I can't wait for the testimonial so we can say goodbye in style - actually make that 'au revoir' as I hope he'll be back in some capacity in a few years time.

I shall always wear my Murty shirt with pride (which will save me loads in new replicas ;)
