Andersen is utter gash and not fit to strap up Marcus' gloves.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the new man bring in a new keeper if not it just has to be Federici and Hamer as the two fighting it out for the jersey.

i not sure if Federici is good enough to be number 1...he hasn't got enough experience, end of.
Would have been much happier to see USA stay and Federici to go out on loan to an other championship club for 6 months.
Wouldn't be surprised to see the new manager buy a new number 1 choice.
Only time will tell though

lets look at a few facts...taken from the team for forest thread.

Plymouth_Royal
since fed has gone in goal from the norwich game. hes played 11 conceded 9.
however, against cardiff in the cup reading fielded an entirely different back 4 (murty, bikey, pearce and kelly). then home to wolves kelly and pearce came in, after that game, rosenior came back in and the other 3 have remained the same. so in the 11 games the back four have changed 3 times using 5 different players ,if you include gunnarsson's sub appearance, from the usual back 4, so thats 9 different players in total.

when hahnemann has played. hes played 21 games and conceded 21.
with the back four only changing 3 times with rosenior, bikey, pearce, doobs, stretch, s.hunt and ingi being used. and when they have changed its been only one player being changed.

He's had a enough match experience at southend and with us. His distribution is dangerously good and he's a young goalie. When coppell dropped him he admitted he had no real reason to, just that he would prefer an older head to deal with the pressure. same situation for karacan when he was unfairly dropped, although he did have a slight groin problem for a few weeks. Im not trying to take anything away form USA because his consistency and personality will be sorely missed but I think Fed will need the support from us if he is going to fulfill his potential and be better than hahnemann. As for the number 2 spot well anderson is highly rated by the club and they see them train every day so they know alot more than us. We also have hamer but i think he will opt to move on because he could get 1st team footy in league 1 and he hasnt accepted our contract offer yet.

Err and how do players get experience? By playing IIRC. Were Reading FC, not Man Utd were not able to go out and splash millions on a keeper in his prime. Federici showed he was good enough this season, give him time to develop a good understanding with a SETTLED defence, and I think we have a potentially class goalkeeper.

Federici has enough experience. His dynamic distribution is a real plus as well. End of. (Robb)

how many people would be happy to buy a goal keeper, this summer, who has been a number 2 choice goal keeper for the last few years...played 14 games this year only because the 1st choice keeper was injured, and was dropped almost immediately after 1st choice keeper was fit, and thats the extent of his experience at this level.
i just think he needs a bit more experience at this level, I'm not arguing about his quality.
I guarantee you, if he starts next year (which it looks like he will), if he has 2 or 3 bad games, everyone on here will be moaning about how the club has no ambition because we didn't get a more experience goalkeeper in.

What are we all expecting next year - WWWWW. I tell thee we'll be lucky to get consistant results with a currently unknown team we are all speculating on. Fedders should and will step up to the plate. It's the rest of the team we need to concentrate on in the closed season.

Silver Fox I can't be arsed to read anything anyone else has posted but surely I'm not alone in thinking we shouldn't have let Marcus go am I?

A Fed is a good keeper - I think if its a time for change we should get the best keeper in the league this season - Calvin Davis.

Looks like we have our number 1 and 2

http://www.hounslowchronicle.co.uk/west-london-sport/west-london-brentford-fc/2009/05/19/hamer-set-for-new-reading-fc-deal-109642-23659376/

BEN HAMER is set to sign a new two-year contract at Reading – all but ruling out a loan move back to Brentford FC.

The 21-year-old keeper was almost an ever present as Andy Scott's side romped to the League Two title.

Hamer was stalling on putting pen to paper at the Madjeski after problems with his agent.

And despite the departure of Royals boss Steve Coppell last week, the Somerset-born shot-stopper is going to sign on the dotted line and challenge Adam Federici for the number one shirt following the exit of Marcus Hahnemann.

He said: "I've got things sorted with my agent now, so am going to sign a two-year deal with Reading.

"They want me to challenge next year. I've been told I'm going to be fighting for the number one spot, so I'd only probably go on loan if I was third choice.

"Fed is in front of me. He's played at a higher level, but I'm going to get my head down in pre-season and give it a go."

Andersen was an embarrassment when he was on loan at Torquay and made a couple of huge clangers and was subsequently dropped. My brother who is a regular at Plainmoor reckons he is one of the worst keepers he has ebver seen!

Yep, and then was appalling at Brighton on loan this season. Hastily got rid of and replaced again with Kuipers.

I saw Andersen on 3 occasions and in every game he was utter garbage, that was at non league level.
