as i said on the rumour thread, there is nother club that have triggered the release clause.

Doyle is more interested in going to this other club, the reason not to go to Wolves is if he can't agree terms with the other club

(yes, i know who the other club is, but can't say)

Dirk Gently Completely and absolutely not - it makes perfect sense for him.

He's obviously jaded here and needs a new challenge and a complete change of scenery - I've been in that situation at work a few times and when it gets to that the only way is to change jobs.

Wolves play in a similar way to us (when we were good), with fast-breaking wingers which is a style which obviously suits KD.

It's a world cup year so he obviously wants to play as much as possible - at one of the "less-established" PL clubs he'd be a bigger fish in a smaller pond, and get far more games than he would at somewhere like Villa or Everton.

Good luck, Kevin, and thanks for everything - but all good times must come to an end.

Well said Dirk, agree 100%.

Don't need to read the other three pages now: I'd agree with that.

Vision Its a World Cup year which may also have a bearing. In that sense playing week in week out for Wolves may be better than sitting on a bench at Villa or Everton.

Good point, he's bound to factor that into his decision.

In all honesty, Wolves would be a great move for Doyle.
They had some prolific scorers (principally at the start of) last season and every striker would want a chance to play for a team that will create for him. And dont write their premiership chances off. They have a good young squad and seem to be active in the transfer market. Id be tempted to back against them getting relegated.

But now, if Fulham came in, and I was Doyle - I wouldnt even muck around with the agent and just say 'Yes please!'..............

Id be gutted if he went, but we're a better club than those that would block a move for good money

The Express and Star Doyle mentor backs Wolves’ move
Kevin Doyle has been told he will “improve immensely” in joining Wolves – by the man who launched his international career.

The Premier League new boys have held talks with the Reading striker, who would cost a club-record £6.5million.

But they are braced for a battle to land the Republic of Ireland international with the Royals still expecting plenty of interest in him, although early indications suggest Bolton aren’t one of the potential suitors - as reported elsewhere.

One of Doyle’s mentors, Steve Staunton – who has been scouting for Wolves – believes Molineux would be the ideal place to continue his career under boss Mick McCarthy.

The former Republic of Ireland coach and Walsall assistant boss has placed his faith in the player before, he gave him his first cap in his first game in charge of the national team, a 3-0 win against Sweden in March 2006.

Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?

He's a mentor now? Staunton was absolute shite in charge of the Republic, no credibilty at all.

You can't say, as it is total Billy B*llsh*t.

Do you honestly think that if some no-mark on an internet message board quotes that he heard a certain team was in for a certain player then there would be wider ramifications?

Get a life, or at least, some sort of perspective.

There are people on HNA with sources, Gazzer may well be one. And if something got back to the club that could lead to an employee or relative of an employee leaking information then there could be serious repercussions for that person.

A guy I work with's brother does a lot of football charity work and knows a lot of players and other people in the game. No doubt he has all sorts of choice bits and pieces he picks up, but if he lets slip and it gets out then he can kiss a lot of his contacts goodbye.

Whilst I kind of agree, I have a very good source, which I hear a lot of information from, however the same information is often spoken to a crowd, or is the same as is on here, though slightly quicker.

It's always a rumour, until it's proved either way, I'm not convinced there would be repurcussions unless it is a financial issue. In which case the perp deserves it.

It's unlikely, but I can see situations where people could lose their jobs.

And it's quite possible the source will stop providing information even if nothing else will happen.

If he said "my source is [name of person connected with club]" then I could see the potential for repercussions, but if he just says "it's Fulham", what could possibly be the fallout from that? gazzer loyalroyal failing to burnish his insider credentials again.

fair point.

I don't tend to pay attention to who's rumours tend to be true, but I know a couple of people have got things right pretty early and apparently out of the blue.

Surely a better question would be "Would Wolves be stupid to pay £6.5m for Doyle?"

Answer: An emphatic "yes"!

I guess they are looking at 16 goals in the 1st half of last season, and Doyler being in just about the same physical condition now as then, coupled with the obvious "team issues" that we had in the 2nd half which could be seen as the reason his goal tally dropped off.

Do you not think he can raise his game again? How much do you think he is worth?

I obviously hadn't finished my post when I agreed that he would be "extremely stupid". Especially if there is a bigger club likely to come in for him. He'd be better off going to that club rather than Wolves. Wolves aren't really guaranteed to stay up next year, after all. Or even the following season.
