Good luck.

Thanks for the memories.

At least you're not going to play against us for a season or two.

Thaumagurist* You've outstayed your welcome. Reading is not a country town. Now piss off.

Don't be like that, Forrest.

Don't take too much notice of him, Wolf - even cyber-villages need to have their idiots.....

Dirk - it doesn't take too long to work out that all the other posters think he's a plank!

Royalee There's no doubting that a decent Premiership club would be attractive, but like I said he wants to stay at Reading and there has been no contact whatsoever, so this rumour is absolute bollocks - if Wolves had proper money to spend like is being touted here then they wouldn't be signing the likes of Marcus Hahnemann. In any event, the guy's not an idiot like Hunt so he wouldn't go to a team who'll be back down in the Championship next year just for the sake of a few quid and an ego boost as he's clearly a level-headed, likeable guy.

Then again, I don't know why I'm even attempting to put you delirious folk at ease, half of you think we'll struggle to beat Forest and Barnsley and are even worried we won't be in the top half which is rather hilarious.

MadStadLad And I've just bought a shirt for my daughter with DOYLE on the back!

Well, given that any Reading fan knew that he was about to leave, that says more about you than it does about the club.

plus anyway the new shirt isn't out.

I think this could be a good move for Doyle. Not sure about Wolves over Fulham given how Hodgson has got them going, but I guess it means Wolves offered him more chance of first team football.

I expect Wolves to do quite well next season. This is the final nail in the coffin of my Wolves hatred. It is simply not possible to hate a club that the great KD has moved to.

Top top bloke.

Even though it was a foregone conclusion of not going up this year I am still absolutely gutted.

The best player in the most successful era for Reading FC and a true professional and all round good guy. Very sad day. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he became a top manager in the future as well, has the intelligence.

Love the way he still talks about Reading as "we" in the interviews. Hope one day he makes a more successful return than Kits did and he is back in the hoops one day. Until then thanks for the memories and I hope he goes on to great things including playing at the World Cup.

On a slightly different note is anyone (not at all) surprised that although Kev has been talking to Wolves for two weeks the deal is concluded after Friday's season ticket deadline? Something along the lines of...yeah that's all sorted but if we can just hold off concluding the deal next week........

Decent striker, nice guy, but never worth that much money. Great business. Thanks for the memories.

PS - Wolves is a toss choice of club. See you soon.

Why would it make a difference. Everyone who hasn't been living in isolation for the last 4 months knew he was leaving before the new season started. The transfer has actually gone ahead pretty quickly.

Look at the Shorey deal last year. We all knew he was leaving at some point but he went just prior to the season starting.

I certainly think it was time for Doyle to move on and reckon it was very good business for RFC.
Whether Wolves is the right club to go to only time will tell but for regular first team football it would appear to be a good move.
I wonder if despite the lure of a new manager deep down he wanted to get away from the shambles that was around him during the final months of last season when the service he got was non-existent.
Hopefully he will get much better service at Wolves.
Anyhow very good luck to you Kevin in the rest of your career and I will watch you on MOTD with great interest. Surely you will do better than the rest of wantaway PREMIERSHIP BOUND players that have moved on recently from RFC.

Wolfatthedoor Must be all those defeats at Molineux getting you down!

Believe it or not, he is allowed to leave the City limits and find somewhere to reside that will attempt to match the cultural, pastoral and aesthetic delights of Reading.

Oh, Wolfie, what a short memory you have..... Remind me of a) how many points you took off RFC last season? and b) what was the score at Molyneaux? :P

"Bucolic" I think is the word you were looking for....

Disagree. The way transfer fees have become so inflated, I reckon Wolves have got themselves a steal (how much is paid up front and how much will be conditional on 'x' anyway?).

Doyle will prove himself to be a very good PL striker, given the right sort of service.

He's shown he can do it in a good team who create chances.

6.5 mill is a top fee for an average at best prem striker. The season reading were relegated he was absolute shite and missed chance after chance. Large part of why reading went down. Last season, great start then shocker of a finish with no goals, again large part of why reading failed was his scoring record. Nice lad and proper pro but 6.5 mill is ridiculous money. Best of luck kevin, but if you had managed to hit a barn door towards the end of the last two seasons reading wouldn't be where they are now.

I just watched the video of his departure. Interesting. He says he talked to Coppell who told him to go to the clubs and make his own mind up. It was a bit hard to make out, but it seems that later Doyle mentions that Coppell told him he'd (presumably Coppell) be delighted if he (Doyle) went to Wolves. Is Coppell a closet Wolves fan?
