A sense of justice but bloody annoying

by rhroyal » 30 Jun 2009 12:16

Doyle and SHunt. Two players who felt that they were deserving of a place in the Premiership upon relegation, and two players who were still here in September.

Since then, Doyle has got his head down and performed as well as he can for the club. He signed a contract in November to end January transfer speculation. His attitude throughout the season was impeccable and he built upon his reputation as a low maintenance, commited player. Upon failure to win promotion he stated he was happy to have another season here if nothing happened over the summer. Turns out something did happen, Wolves came in. Nobody begrudges him a move, he deserves to be in the Premiership. Good luck.

Compare this to SHunt. Had a massive rant after the transfer window closed in September. Waited around for a transfer in January. When nothing came along he accused Coppell and others of being liars before taking his pay rise and then having his form drop dramatically. After our failure to win promotion, by which time he was behind Kebe in the pecking order and even Simon Church in the final match, he immediately stated he wanted to move back to the Premiership. Prima Donna attitude, too big for his boots and and a poor attitude. Well, here's something for SHunt to think about. NOBODY WANTS YOU!!!

When you see the likes of Berbatov, Ronaldo, Santa Cruz and others throwing their toys out of the pram in more high profile scenarios. Well, I hope that they look upon this and see that being a good footballer and professional gets you your big move. I feel a sense of justice that Doyle is a Premiership player and SHunt isn't. However it's bloody annoying, I'd have happily seen Doyle spend his career here, where I want SHunt out as soon as possible.

I'd quite like to see SHunt at Hull or Stoke and watch him get relegated.

Obviously I'd like him to go to the likes of Leeds or Saints, clubs befitting of his massive stature, but I can't see that happening.

Good little player for us, but a lot less good than he thinks he is. His playing strength is his arrogance and determination. Sadly that makes him behave like a bit of a dick, especially given he doesn't seem that bright.

Well said. The difference between Berbatov, Santa Cruz, and Ronaldo publicly making it known they want switches, is that they are all outstanding players. Stephen Hunt is not. He is truly awful and that's something I've maintained from day one.

Blood and thunder are his middle names, which can sometimes mask inability. He's had some decent moments, I won't doubt that, but on the whole he is a terrible footballer in a technical sense.

Add to that the fact he is a bit of a thicko, and it's pretty obvious why most really can't wait to see this idiot through the door. I just hope someone, anyone, shows even less brains than him and makes us an offer of some description.

I'm a big fan of Doyle's and I admire the way he's handled himself over his time at Reading, and specifically since the relegation when he could probably have manufactured a move for himself if he really wanted to.

Don't forget he did do the one come and get me interview whilst away with Ireland though, and I'm sure his new contract in January was more about establishing the £6.5m release clause and a litle pay rise/signing on fee than it was ending transfer speculation.

His form also dropped off after January too remember, although personally I put that down to carrying a few knocks whilst being flogged to death working off scraps and without a capable and suitable partner for long periods. It's a bit harsh to slate Hunt for his drop in form but at the same time not mention Doyle did exactly the same thing.

All in he's been an absolute pleasure to watch over his time with the club though, and I hope he goes from strength to strength.

I also hope that Hunt gets his move as quickly as possible!

I though the contract negotiation was made and settled on the understanding that he was happy to stay and fight to go back up, but that he'd 100% guaranteed be off if we didn't make it.

We sweetened the wages as a way of keeping him happier and thanking him for showing some loyalty when he could easily have as you put it "engineered a move".

Just my interpretation.

It's a shame he didn't kick anyone else in the head. That way he would of got his move sooner.

Talking of which, what do you think Rodgers' view of him is, seeing as he was at Chelsea at the time of said incident?

I don't see much difference between that and what I said.

We gave him a new contract to keep him sweet, but he signed it to give himself a little extra cash and to get the clause written into his contract to ensure he could leave in the summer without the club being able to block it.

I don't think Doyle signing it was at all motivated by a desire to quell any transfer speculation.

I'd be happy to get Hunt out cut price to free up some wages for new players.

Pretty much what I have been saying for some time.

The only piece of football news that I am interested in reading about would involve the transfer of the Irish pikey hobbit cunt away from my football club. I do not want him playing for my club.

I don't care where he goes or how much for. Just go. NOW!

He just might flourish.

Whenever he plays for Ireland he looks like the player he was for us in our 1st season in the PL (and short bursts since), so it's still in there somewhere.

At his best, he's a very good player for us. And he's underlined this with a number of battling performances at international level.

For those who were at the final fans forum, where Wally Downs and Kevin Dillon took the mic you will recall the questions and answers on the subject of his up and down loss of form.

His attitude and choice of agent were big factors but the management must be honest and put their hands up to handling it all rather ineptly. He should have left in January, that might have been best, but the notional loss of transfer value and Coppell's belief that it would all be OK in the run-in were simply wrong.

Not having made it to the forum - what did Wally and Kevin say?

I think we'd all like to see Stephen Hunt join Birmingham for about 10 times his value (about 50 pence) and then get relegated next season in all honesty.

That's because Ireland's midfield is crap and make him look good. Also, in international football teams don't play as a unit as well so he gets away with being stupid more.
