I'm going to side with the RTGs on this one, I'm hoping for Brendan and the Kids to really make an impact. So long as our home grown players aren't sold and our squad falls apart and we have to start afresh like it began to at the start of last season!

Very good/positive post!

Not quite sure about the last bit but otherwise good,

If you look at the current squad

Federici, Hamer and Anderson..... all good young keepers with bright futures, I would like to see Anderson or Hamer to go out on loan to get some experience if fed does pick up an injury.

Armstrong, Bertrand, Kelly and Rosenior.... Again good full backs that can attack and defend. I think Rosenior is our weak link in the team atm so would like to see Kelly come in, he did ok when he had games last season.

Ivar, Mills and Pearce.... Would be very happy with any 2 of the 3 playing, Pearce i think has the making of a reading legend. I do think we need cover in this area incase of injuries as its more than likely Bikey is going.

Karacan, Davies, Harper, Marek, Siggurdson, Cisse and Tabb.... By far the strongest area of our squad, You wouldn't be unhappy with any of the 3 being played at any one point. My personal choice would be Karacan , Davies and Marek although I'm a massive Tabb fan.

Kebe, Ronson-Kanu, Henry, Bignall, Mooney, Church, Hunt and Long.... As many have said no player stands out who could score 25 goals a season. I would like to see BR bring in Tommy Smith but not into the lone striker role, i think he would be better playing wide right. I would love to see us make a bid for either of Mclean or Boyd from Peterborough.

I think the biggest thing for us this season which helped us in 05/06 and in 06/07 but we lost in 07/08 and 08/09 is the 'suprise factor'. the last 2 years we got found out massively and teams found it easy to stop us.

Mid table Premiership team in 5 years time.... YES
Top 6.... No

4 England Internationals .... No
4 Ex-Reading Academy Players(Likes of Karacan, Siggurdson, Davies, Church etc) becoming Full Internationals... Yes

FiNeRaIn Keep sectarianism OFF the team!!!!!

Ok I apologise.

DIEEEEEEE!

Ok, you are getting embarrassing now. I might think you are a cock, but wishing death over someone on an internet forum is cringe worthy. Sure you'll regret that in the morning.
Take my earlier advice and get a glass of water and a snack and call it a night.

Rodgers left Watford for supposedly a 'bigger' club with more money, so who is to say he will not do it again?

I've got far better things to regret than telling you to die. You are about as significant on the scale of things I care about, as a microbe is on a galaxial scale.

I don't wish death on anybody- I'm the bigger man not to get riled over a petty football forum. You lost your composure, made a silly comment joking or not and look a bit of a tit as a whole because of it. You might get a few usual anti-finerain suspects chipping in with their two cents claiming they agree, etc but I wouldn't expect anything less. HNA really brings out the retard in people.
Off to bed, enjoy your night cap :D

It's a good job I'm not in charge. Because you'd be culled along with several million other useless 'tards if I was.

What exactly has this arguement to do with the thread? Why don't the pair of you just grow up or have the pathetic row by pm?

Quite agree.Funny how Rosey talks an upbeat story in the press and yet when it comes to playing on the park.....

JR I am convinced that within 5 years we will be an established Top 6 Championship side and we will have at least 4 players in the England U-20 squad.

Agreed.

Will we be so positive if we lose 0-4 at Toon today?

I know people are going to think I'm being unrealistic (or even sarcastic) but I genuinely believe by 2017 we will be bigger than Real Madrid.

JR I seriously believe that as a bunch of fans we have more to look forward to over the next 5 years than any other in the country.

Let's look at the mindset of fans in the Premiership:

Big 4 - So much pressure to win the league every year, that over the course of 5 years they will never be happy
Villa/Everton - Depression of failing to break big 4 and having players pouched by Man City
Man City - If the unlikely happens and they win the league, it will never be a completely satisfactory victory and the money will always be blamed
Mid Table Prem - Struggling to break into the top echelon while looking behind worried
Newly promoted prem teams - Target is to finish 17th. Bringing in lots of new players on promotion, to just try and survive.

I think we are so lucky because in the space of a month or so we have the following:

- A manager who is a Reading fan. He will not leave for money or just because the other team is 'bigger'
- In 2 matches we have seen 9 academy players play. Then future is bright and will be based on our youth. Many look promising and they will be given the chance to blossom over the next few years.
- When we get promoted we will not have to spend big on lots of random players as our team will be improving with age
- The formation, tactics and strategy put in place by BR is a big change and is based on a more attractive European style. This will differentiate us from a lot of the Championship and Premiership sides and be exciting to watch.
- As our team will be built on our academy, financially the club will be sustainable.

I am convinced that within 5 years we will be an established Top 6 Premiership side and we will have at least 4 players in the England squad.

Great post... was nodding and agree all the way through......

......then i saw the "top 6 Prem" and now think your a with and we should burn you !!!

MENTALIST :)

I`d be quite surprised if we get a point or more there, considering the average age of the teams we fielded against Forest and Burton Albion.
At best this will be a transition season and anything more than midtable-obscurity would actually be a great achievement .
With a new style of playing and a team full of young players you need to give them some credit, because results in the beginning usually aren`t that great after such an overhaul .

The original post ignores the fact that any player who shows the ability to hold his own in a top ten premiership side will be sold within a year of showing that promise.

I would stake any amount of money that the achievements of Coppell in both Championship (1st with record points) and the Premiership (8th) will never be bettered unless we were bought out by a multi billionnaire who throws unlimited money at it. Yet, unbelievably, Coppell seems a hate figure for some village idiots on here.

Oh and Ian Royal, shame on you.
