For the oldsters:

Pat Terry
Arthur Wilkie (injured in goal, no subs, went on wing, score twice).

BTW along with all our other records (13 wins, 106 pts etc) is a goalie scoring twice a record? Probably not world-wide, with goalies taking penalties etc, but a good shout in English football I would have thought.

Talking of cult heroes, Archie was reporting on the prematch details of Aberdean and Celtic a few minutes ago. He doesn't age.

Terminal Boardom Dean Horrix?

Went something like 24 games without scoring in 83/84 yet the fans loved him.

That's because he was instrumental in Trevor Senior outscoring everyone in the division - LEGEND.

Cult heroes are those who by definition don't achieve mass popular appeal. This rules out Senior, Dixon, Death, Parkinson and all of the players of the season. Good shout for Doobs. Friday probably edges it just for shitting in Lawro's kit bag though.

On this basis, only one name springs to mind. Step forward Oliver Kearns!

Terminal Boardom
Whats the case for Murts, Kits and Trev?

Well in Murty's case he's the best right back i've seen at Reading in 20 years. Kitson was a talisman for Reading and look at his scoring record for us

Isnt cult something where everyone jumps on the bandwagon to follow it then after a short time period its over as quickly as it started? Or is that just a fad?

Anyway under this definition it would surely have to be a player like Cureton who was a goal machine from the word go, had his famous song, everybodys favourite player, scored the equaliser at Brentford, but then fell out of the team and was released to go play in Korea.

Soel was a good example of a cult hero. Outstanding start to our Prem season, the Boro home game and his screamer against West Ham the highlights. Then as quick as it started he was out of the team and on his way to Fulham.

Shaun Goater, everyone loved him untill they saw him play

Grant Brebner, looked class for us for a bit then oxf*rd off back to Scotland.

But the winner in my eyes...MASS SARR!!!

Harps.

Loyal, good and reliable player, great bloke, crucial goals (eg 07/08 v boro to give us our first away win), clearly loves the club, hilarious in interviews...

And a cult hero as he will never be loved by everyone.

07RFC Murty
Doyle

id hardly count Doyle. he was a good player (even possibly great) but not "Legend" or even "Cult Hero". from that era id only give Murty and Little either of those titles. but to each his own i suppose.
