Did they spend much money last season? And more to the point, did the Burnley board continually tell the fans that they were aiming for Premiership football?

Gordons Cumming Burnley's first 4 league games last season.

1-4
0-3
0-0
0-0

Look where they are now!

Don't panic, Mr Mainwaring!!

Big difference is that they had a settled squad with plenty of experienced pros. We don't...the ones we do have are either benched/out of the squad completely or injured.

Burnley had a small squad with experienced players who played together for the season with minimal injuries and thrived off success in the cup.

We have a squad of U21's playing who are still learning their trade with no experienced players to assist.

We will be nowhere near the play offs it will be a long season and I for one will settle for 21st place now.

Royal Lady BF if the end of his shelf life saw us get to fourth in Championship and play offs, that's not bad going. Who do you think we would have got for last season? Possibly Brendan. And the type of football we are playing now, with maybe half the team going last season instead of this. We could be in Division One now. I'd say the Car Park crew did everyone a big favour. Except Mr Madejski!
There were some very good candidates around, Paul Ince, Darren Ferguson amongst others.

It became clear at Xmas that Coppell had lost the plot - see our form from pretty much drawing with Cardiff on Boxing Day.

You don't know that for certain though - esp if he wouldn't have been given the money he wanted to buy players.

No one knows much for certain unless it happens so the calls for Madejski's head and the heralding of a new owner are fairly futile too then I guess ?

Ideal Paul Ince had the chance of a lifetime when he was appointed manager of Blackburn, his responce was to sign Robbie Fowler. LOL@Ince

Thats not the reason he failed. Whats funny about fowler? One of the best scorers in prem history.

We only pretty much drew with Cardiff on Boxing Day? I thought drawing winning and loosing were absolutes, does the fact that the keeper scored the equaliser make some kind of diffence?

So far past it Ince might just as well have signed Jimmy Geaves for all the good it was going to do Blackburn.

one of the categories should be - shit fans devoid of intelligence or patience and not prepared to support the team through a difficult patch.

He's 34 now, so was at best 32 or the early part of 33 when he signed-not ridiculous to expect him to score a few goals.

Wasn't it on a pay as you play deal or something like that - no risk for possible maximum reward - nowt wrong with that.

Pretty much, as in "take the form from there on in".

Bringing in a multi-millionaire, pereniilally injured has-been to a club needing a squad of scrappers didn't seem the wisest move, whatever the deal.

But if he doesn't play you don't pay him and if he does you think he'll do a job so not a problem in my book, but that's by-the-by.

I meant more from a dressing-room harmony angle - resentments breed discontent and it seemed that Ince very quickly lost the dressing room so Fowler's arrival might not have helped.

Anyway, I dunno - just guessing.
