He always reminded me of one the Pathetic Sharks from Viz with his HUGE SMILE like they had as well.

Good player, great servant for the club and a huge loss when he goes.

This Rodger The Dodger guy is a HUGE fool to get rid of him. Perhaps James is not Premiership quality but he sure as hell is Championship quality and I believe in all seriousness a leader on the pitch.

HE should be wearing the captains armband not some spotty youth that has only recently had their ball sacks get hairy and started to shave recently.

Good Luck James, whatever happens.

as i said on another thread the minute he leaves is the minute i loose what little interest i had left!

no one player is bigger than the club but this summer is too much to take(and for all those that will call me a plastic i have been going for over 20years)

Thanks Harps you have been a legend a very good player and a consumate professional the club is a poorer place without you and the treatment you have recieved is unforgivable!

As I have said on another thread, Harps is a 'character' and an asset to the club. It is evident from all his comments that he loves playing football. We should do our best to keep him as he must be a positive influence in the dressing room.

When we were flying high in the Prem I once saw Harper having breakfast in Asda café. Not a very sensible reason to respect a football player I know, but somehow endearing.

Leg end. Best pro, nicest footballer, loyalest servant in my time with the club. Always had time to stop and talk.big eyebrows, heart of the 0506 team.but he needs a new start, hes too comfy here.gutted if he goes, but you wont get a player leave with as much good feeling from the fans as with harps.it says alot.

I wonder what a Robin Friday appreciation thread would have looked like?

I'll crack open the champagne when this dope finally leaves. Not a bad player, but for some reason in the last few seasons he forgot how to tackle or have any positive impact on a game (apart from arm waving) and away from home he's totally anonymous.

I think BR is right, he needs a move to kick start his career again.

James Harper brings an end to FM2010 for Reading.

by Thou Voice » 02 Sep 2009 10:54

It seems that there is no point in including RFC within FM2010 this year.

We've sold our players in a firesale...

Stipped all our assetts...

...and quite frankly will be so piss poor that even 100 Balding Guy's could not save us. Very poor state of affairs.

James Harper being kicked out was the final nail in RFC's coffin of disapointment.

The James Harper Legend Thread!

by LoyalRoyalFan » 02 Sep 2009 11:04

For me, I feel that, James Harper has put in a fantastic service for the club over his eight years at the club.

For his man of the match performance against Wigan in his first season at the club.
For his work in the promotion season, with a great goal against Crystal Palace.
For his partnership in midfield with Sidwell.
For his enthusiasm and throughout the team.
For putting in 110% effort during the years.

Therefore i feel that Harper can join the list of Reading legends, for his service to the club.

Thank you James Harper.

For his starjumping
For his pointing
For his itty-bitty shinpads

I'm nothing without football, and football's nothing without me.

'greed, James.

(we'll be better off without you, though.)

That 20 yard header against Millwall in our 106 season.
Those two goals @ Newcastle in our first season in the Prem.
That last gasp goal against Burnley back in 2004.
His fooling around on the coach back from Leicester in our 106 season.
That goal against Liverpool in 2008.

Cheers Harps for some quality times!
You'll be missed.

His debut goal and subsequent showboating that Pardew gave him a bollocking for.
Scoring against Sheffield United in my first trip to Bramall Lane
Scoring the first in the Derby Championship winning game.

rob the royal
juanpablo i still see him listed as a Reading player

I disguised myself as a fly and buzzed around Hogwood today, sitting on walls and listening in on stuff and this is what I heard:

BR: Oh come in James, don't bother shutting the door... You need a fresh start, you should go to Wolves.
JH: But I don't really want to go. This place is jokes mate. I love it.
BR: A fresh start will be good for you. Footballers always need fresh starts, your time has come James. Trust me, I've been told by someone who knows all about football that James Harper needs a fresh start.
JH: Oh you mean the special one? Jose thinks I should move on?
BR: No, not him, Nicky Hammond.
JH: But i don't want to go.
BR: No TRUST ME you need a fresh start.
JH: But why??? I reckon I can really fit what you're trying to do boss, you know, pass pass pass, I love all that! Sideways pass, backwards pass, cheeky one two. Love it.
BR: Look anyone at this club who's earning the sort of money an ambitious club pays their best players... well... they all need a fresh start.
MM: Excuses me bossky, oh am sorry harps are you conversings with mister gaffers?
JH: No, you're alright Marek, I am off to Wolves, I don't feel loved.
MM: Oh well, OK but I think you should staysky, if we blend the youthsky with the oldsky we may become premiersky soonsky!
JH: Tell HIM that!!! I'm off!
MM: Boss, why are you letting Harpsky runs away? I think he actually will go to Wolveskies!
BR: Marek your mother called, she told me you've been feeling home sick?
MM: Home sick! Haha very amusingsky. No boss, I love it here, Fish and chip, Reading festivalsky! I like! I just come to say I am 100% fit and ready to play.
BR: Oh the physios tell me you're only 99% fit. Sorry Marek, I think you need a loan spell.
MM: A loan? Wheresky!?
BR: Go home, I know you're home sick.
MM: No boss, it's not true. I only want play for Royalskys.
BR: Shut the door on your way out Marek.
[Phone rings]
BR: Hello... Two for the price of one. Oooh lovely jubbly!
[Knock at the door]
JM: Oh hello Brendan, just thought I'd drop by see how you were getting on?
BR: Brilliant. All the players on big money are gone, and I've brought in a couple of 'experienced' cheapies from my days at Watford to keep the fans happy.
JM: Oh Brendan that's brilliant. Fancy dinner at mine with a few friends, just me, Cilla, my Edgar Davids statue and a few sports cars.
BR: I would but I'm just trying to work out how I can get rid of Liam Rosenior... I put an ad on Gumtree, but so far only Hull have called.

/highly doubts this is worth reading

Another piece of the old jigsaw is thrown out. I hope our new manager has plans to keep at last one player over 21 years old in the team. Goodbye Harps and thanks for the memories.
