Here's my worst XI that I can think of from rattling in my brain:

GK Simon Sheppherd (Sal Bibbo and Peter Van Der Kwaak were close)

RB Andy Gurney
LB Stuart Gray (Alex Smith was close)
CB Elroy Kromheer
CB Sam Sodje (Did nothing but get sent off when in a Reading shirt!)

RM Sean Evers
LM Byron Glasgow
CM Jimmy Crawford
CM Keith Jones

CF Paul Brayson
CF Keith Scott

From a different era and of a different order of magnitude of crappiness.

Any worst XI that doesn't include Paul Podin isn't worth considering IMO.
Paul Brooker worthy of at least a sub bench place

How very dare you put Meaker in a worst XI!!!

Because I can't think of any right wingers who impressed me less, including Brooker. (Is there a flaw in my method?)

I did struggle with left backs (over the years we've been fairly well blessed) and it was probably a toss up between Elsey and Bodin, but as Bodin had missed a penalty which prevented Wales from qualifyig for the World Cup Finals, I felt I owed him a vote of thanks.

I liked Meaker, and I'm not alone.

Even if I'm wrong about liking him, he should be absolved of all shame related recognition for putting in the cross that Adie stabbed into his own net for Wolves.

I struggle to think of right backs I didn't like. Didn't see much of Gurney, but I liked Newman, Bernal, Booty and Murty. Even I think it would be harsh to say Rosenior.

Gk is a hard one, Sheppard was useless but made some strange but class saves. Gary Phillips, actually kneed the ball into the net , and who was the dickhead from Tranmere that only played once for us away to Leeds in the cup.

Outfield - Paul Brayson by a mile , 2nd Nigel Vaughan, 3rd Emerse Fae

Can we count Bob Hazel, punched a guy early in first match and got red card, was suspended for the rest of his loan period. A great role model for Bikey

No because it was worth the entry fee alone plus he played 4 games and scored once.

On the subject of GK, Sal Bibbo was pretty useless in the handful of games he played.

The season we went down under Bullivant it was his horrendous mistake Vs Tranmere which started teh slide - and they hadn't scored for about 100 hours prior to the game

They sure as hell made up for it though!

I remember the Hazell clan turning up at Shrewsbury for an Utter Members Cup tie. Kevin Bremner was handing out freebies to everyone who went up by coach. We lost! I think the game he was sent off in was at home to Barnsley who had one of the ever so popular Futcher boys playing for them. He spent 5 minutes solidly berrating the referree for a decision. After the tirade completed, the ref casually produced a red card from his pocket. Bob had already started walking!

No worst XI can ever take shape without Michael Meaker. He was undoubtedly the worst and most over-rated player ever to wear the hoops. I can't remember the game but it was Elm Park where a long ball set him free from the halfway line with no-one between him and the keeper AND he was centrally positioned. He headed for the corner flag! So, with apologies to Ian Royal who I very rarely disagree with, Meaks is in!

W&E Royal
Berry Lea Barkus, Sean Evers, Kevin "Sideways" Watson, Michael "Physio Bench" Meaker in Midfield.
With Barn Doors Brayson and Keith "I cant walk anymore " Scott up front.
Elroy "6-1" Kromheer, Stuart"My Dads Famous" Gray, Paul "Not today" Bodin and Barry "Microphone head" Hunter at the rear
With Simon"The Swan" Sheppard in goal
Would be the worse team imaginable, I swear Kevin Watsons eyes actually started to move to the side of his head as his sideways passing evolved.

Kevin Watson was good

I am reel and im ready to put you in your plaice, Watson did nothing more than pass the ball side to side in a crab like motion or try his long corner routine, he played well for us once when he was truly amazing and that was that, He was Ex Swine and Ex Yid not a good mix.

As for Meaker it was that photo of him in the programme from the Elm Park days "The Turner Treatment" laying on the physio bench with that cheesy grin that done it for me, he was pants.
