Berry Its really funny reading the rubbish people write on here, I work for the Club, not at the higher levels but high enough to know whats going on and some people are so wide of the mark its unreal, If you want to put a pound on who will be the next manager then Mr Southgate might be worth a punt, he has Steve Coppell to sound him out about the Club and Pards, The sticking point will be Madejski, he wont spend money, so I would also put a pound on someone like Paul Sturrock.
WTF has Ferguson really done, he is in the same mould as the Irish one and would need money to turn it around, that money isnt there.
Im waiting for the usual soundbites of am I a programme seller etc etc, believe what you want

Berry if you're high up, can you please get the burger vans to start selling bacon rolls? They are never in stock & it's getting annoying. Thanks. :D

It is obviously very early days but I have a belief that Brian McDermott will be able to turn things around.

To those who have been saying that he has no experience I point them to BM's work and success as reserve team Manager.

Running a reserve team can be more difficult, as key players may be taken up for the first team and some players are 'twitchy' at not having a first-team place.

Pards started his career as reserve team Manager at Reading.

I swear I could take over and some of the RTG's wouldn't question it.

Reasons? First of all he has Parkinson's, second of all he is still employed by Plymouth.

Brendan Rodgers was reserve team coach at Chelsea. Didn't make him a success here though...

BMs odds are shortening by the hour - Egoman offsetting the sacking payout by promoting someone already on the books??? - His interview did little to suggest that BM wasnt in the frame either

And fresh rolls would be appreciated. Those served always seem stale. A 1200 mile round trip, two nights away from home and the agony of the Palace match might have been worth it if there'd at least been the consolation of a decent burger.

I'd suggest it's probably a touch more useful to be reserve team manager at the club you're taking over than another one with shit loads of money and bought playing talent from around the world.

Looks like it's Brian for the forseeable:-

http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDet ... 77,00.html

What happens next?
We've got Brian McDermott in the role, he has been with the club ten years, he successfully managed the reserves in the Premier League and won trophies. He is a terribly good motivator and good person. This is a time for reflection, we won't be bumped into anything at all. We will reflect, people at this club have a great deal of football knowledge.

Could he get it full time, would you rule that out?
Absolutely not ruling it out. I just want to say gentlemen, and I know you guys have been anxious to speak to me and I'm very pleased to do that, but all we are concentrating on now is Saturday's game. That is most important in our minds, to get the hearts and minds concentrated on that. We need cool heads now. Some fans will agree with what's happened, some won't. At the end of the day Reading Football Club goes on, it's a great club and we're doing our best.

Lastly, could Brian still be manager into the new year, it's only a couple of weeks away.
You're right. Frankly, things are in place now and to change [again] is ludicrous. Let's see what unfolds, I can't start doing hypothetics. I will give him all the support in the world, and the team around him. We've made a monumental decision and let's go forward positively.

Is Nigel Gibbs his assistant?

Yes. We've some very good football brains around the place and we're dealing with that. This club has seen high times and low times. At the minute they're not so good, we hope we can get back to the good. We've got to find that heart, move forward together.

Ideal You conveniently left out this part:
Steve Coppell's name comes up, Darren Ferguson and so on...
I won't talk specifics but as you can imagine there have been a whole load of people in touch.

I can only assume this means we have a vast number of applicants for the position.

I'm thinking about it.

Don't be daft - I conveniently posted the link so that people can read the extracts in their full context.

No problem with that personally.

Sounds like we're considering our options and he's a potential candidate, who is head of the queue by virtue of being here and in charge during the vacuum. Do well and we'd be foolish to get rid of him.

Not that he's can have long to prove himself before it's too late.
